Only 1 of the top 6 towers u/c is office.. The rest are residential. Quite an interesting turn of the market in Houston it would seem. Of course many of the taller office towers are not too far off, but then again so are other new tall residentials. Has there ever been a time when Houston has had this much residential high rise activity?

So that square on the roof of the garage rendering is where the tower will go? I hope they don't shorten it from the 38 story plan
-
Eventually. I wonder how long that will be.
-
is that for the new tower or just for renovations to the old buildings?
-
that is extremely unfortunate, i didnt expect negative news when i opened this page.. fatesdisastr, the tower was originally planned to be 35 stories but an additional 5 stories were added.

So they do have a "brochure" to shop this building around to interested companies... That's good to know.

look at how tall the International Tower is compared to Calpine Center. it will still be quite a bit taller if its 45ish stories in height compared to Calpines 33. Calpine is second tall building from the left..

it will definitely stand out from the west side (and north/northeast), extending the skyline further north.

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.

i assumed they werent since it said the tenants wouldnt be effected. i now see in the Chron blog post that they are in fact removing some of the building on the inside of the middle block. pretty cool, though i wish they could of expanded the part along main street too so the inner courtyard area had a more open feel to bring in more pedestrians from Main to bring into the events in the courtyard. with them only expanding the middle i feel like it may still be isolated and not get as much attention. maybe some big LEDs along main and going into the courtyard could help bring in people by letting them know about events. -
Oh.. So it does. Wtf, why is HH so short?

Haha i barely noticed it myself. I wish SkyHouse had the same floor heights as HH. SkyHouse may end up being shorter and it has 3 more floors..

I don't find that to be the most ideal location either.

do i remember correctly that they said they were going to widen the courtyard areas? if so, i wonder how they plan to do that without major structural changes. -
I-45 Rebuild (North Houston Highway Improvement Project)
cloud713 replied to ToryGattis's topic in Traffic and Transportation
Who said anything about narrowing them down to 3 lanes? Beside the boulevard idea. They would obviously have to expand the ROW along 59 and 10 to accommodate for the i45 thru lanes. There have been proposals to shift the row of i10 further north through the wider/straighter path of the Hardy Yards site. That could take care of the 10 portion. As I stated earlier 59 is already submerged at the southern end of downtown so no work is needed besides additional lanes. They may have to remove Chartres street to expand 59/45 row, or tunnel under/along Chartres too. I do agree it would create traffic while being constructed but the thru traffic can be diverted around 610, and IMO the temporary traffic headaches would be worth it.- 3,356 replies

oh yeah, thats the same one im talking about. the design sounds intriguing but i wish the height was a bit taller. ah well, hopefully it will be a gem.

for some reason i could of sworn i read somewhere that an energy company was building a 29ish story tower at that site? dont take it as fact though, i think it was just in the comments of one of the forums i read. i may be getting it confused with a different lot on main street. who knows.

i was actually just looking at Hermann park on google earth and was thinking the area where the amphitheater is would be a great place for botanical gardens since its right across the reflection pond from the Japanese Gardens. it would make more sense to put gardens there than where the "Centennial Gardens" is going, further away from the Japanese Gardens.
