  1. lol, people used to always complain about Houstons boring beige boxes. now i guess it will be the "boring blue glass towers".
  2. does anyone think International Tower will come out with their specs and more information now that the rendering has leaked?
  3. that would actually be fantastic. like from 59 driving south, just north of downtown? then you could include the Marriott Marquis too. (this is a terrible photo btw, im not proposing you use this one, just an example of the angle) thats one of my favorite angles as well, due to the density like you say, but i just checked out some pictures i have from that angle and i dont think you would be able to see much of anything except the new Chevron tower from that angle, and Marriott Marquis. it seems like Hines tower would barely stick out, and the International Tower would be almost completely blocked off?
  4. woooo... thank you! did the Hines tower ever get extended after they announced the 49 story redesign? or are you waiting until more "official" information comes out?
  5. i just noticed this quote. according to someone who is quite familiar with the renderings the 41 story tower will be close to 725' (its about equal to the Fullbright Tower in the renderings). agreed, especially coming in from the north side of town, these towers will stand out nicely from pretty much every angle except the south. now that the design has been released i want this building to be built even more. it would be a fantastic addition/extension of the skyline.
  6. That would be awesome but I figured International Tower would be closer in height to the Hines tower in this rendering (since this rendering shows the 41 story version of Hines, which is the same floor count as I.T.), maybe a bit taller. This will end up being shorter than Hines after both buildings redesigns.
  7. Everything in the design is the same though, correct? Just 9 floors shorter..? I didn't mean the source of the article. I just meant the source for a lot of the HAIF insider info. I've lurked here for a while and he definitely knows his stuff.
  8. haha, so he is THE source. i thought he was the same one that is always posting insider info but i havent started actively following the forums until recently so i wasnt sure. good to know, thanks.
  9. haha, right? will Linbeck just come out and give us some real information already?
  10. you have insider information or something that proves its only 41 stories? if you count the floors its about 41 stories on top of a garage, but maybe these renderings are old and the overall floor count really did get reduced to 41. either way its going to look great and extend the skyline north by 2 blocks.
  11. Houston has 2 supertalls... Wells Fargo is 302 meters. but to answer your question. i really hope so. we discussed it in the Hines thread when we were speculating the new height, and determined that if we do get a supertall it is likely to be due to a major corporate headquarters relocation or a foreign company statement tower.
  12. alright, now that the International Tower rendering has leaked this REALLY needs to be updated. all these new towers are getting me excited.
  13. Hines new tower is 49 floors, and if this rendering is anything to go off of, it will be 50 floors. if this one happens Houston will have 3 towers over 700' rising simultaneously. heres the new rendering again so it people see it when they open the page.
  14. maybe its a 41 story tower on top of a 9 story garage/podium, a la Chevrons "50" story tower, on top of a multi story podium, making the building taller than the 50 stories claimed.
  15. i just counted the floors in the rendering. its about 50 stories. is it possible this is an older rendering, or did this never really get downsized?
  16. OMG FINALLY. haha.. i really dig it too. yes there is color changing LED lighting.
  17. nice to see some money is being invested into the site.. makes me a little bit hopeful for development in the future.
  18. wow, i wish the AIM tower was built. the original proposal for The Mix looks fantastic too. im not familiar with that development.
  19. I had no idea there were going to be turns off capital and rusk, north onto Main. I guess for uh-uhdowntown? I couldn't figure out why they were only going north if they were going to turn. Unless there is another right turn on rusk going south?
  20. any idea when the soil testing was done? the whole site is a concrete parking lot and i drove by today to look for evidence of the work but could only guess that maybe a couple patches in the surface were where they drilled the holes? the concrete in the patches didnt look that new though.
  21. drove by the site today on a little side trip around downtown.. its coming along nicely.. seems to be adding about a floor per week.
  22. It's 49. That may have been old info since the 49 story figure hasn't been officially announced yet.
  23. great job! thanks for making this.. i suck at photoshop and was curious how the new towers would effect the skyline. any chance you could make the Hines tower taller to reflect the new supposed official height? also IMO the new Chevron tower may be a little short since according to the renders its about equivalent in height to a 58 story building if you count each floor and consider the double high floors as 2 stories.
