  1. What do you do? You are clearly plugged in to the Houston Commercial RE scene.
  2. No argument here, but you have to see that the big heavy buses Metro runs contribute a lot to the terrible street conditions this town has. I can't argue against what you say.
  3. Architects are good onideas and not very good sometimes with economic reality.
  4. If I recall it will be taken down floor by floor similar to 1200 Louisiana.
  5. Do you drive in Houston? It's clearly not. Every right lane drives like a bombed out Middle Eastern street
  6. My only problem with buses is they are not keeping pace with street maintenance in this town for the amount of tearing up they do. The streets in Houston are aweful from all the buses we run and clearly Metro isn't bringing in enough to keep up.
  7. I need to hang out with you

    United Airlines

You're very sensitive about the topic of United, and somewhat unnecessarily argumentative. For the record, I do drive (from Denver) after flying in on Southwest. I like to golf and most times it's cheaper to rent a car and drive vs. pay to ship clubs or skis. As to who cares? I'm sure both United and Southwest care. It was a somewhat less expensive route when Continental was around, although it was still pretty expensive. I'm sure the landing/take-off fees in a small mountain airport paly a big part of that.

It is outrageous. I use to fly this one from time to time with my wife. Now we have two kids with one over the age of two and its just about out of the question.
  10. For what it's worth it looked like they had fencing on site today on my commute home
  11. I really have to wonder when the post office property gets a look. In typical US government fashion they will probably watch the most robust real estate market pass them by and not capitalize.
  12. There's also vacant retail in one park place. I like GFR too, but only if it makes sense. A ton of empty store fronts would be way worse
  13. That has no impact on their financials. Only some poor franchisee who owns the store
  14. "We" don't live in a communist country. We respect and protect individual property rights which is why we live in the most prosperous country in human history
  15. I guess if you want in the heights but can't afford meaningful square footage a condo might bridge the gap
  16. They are probably vacant for a long time for a reason (the owners want too much damn money for a developer to buy it). I don't think it's that developers prefer to tear down buildings.
  17. Saw what looked like soils samples being drilled on the site of the fire museum at lunch today.
  18. Why would you deduce that? Advertising means you sales aren't panning out? I'm pretty sure they were going to run an ad campaign no matter what.
  19. It was a guess based on a rendering someone saw. I was told it looked significantly higher than the other two. And I have not personally seen a rendering.
  20. Who goes to Vancouver with stops in Toronto and New York? That's a cross country flight. It's like saying I'm going to LA with a stop in Philly and Miami.
  21. I heard from a CVX employee today that an internal memo showed having the same speed stick design but "significantly" taller than the other two towers. He guessed in the 60 story range
  22. I have pickup in my HOA by Allied Waste, but in my newlywed days I could've have gone a month with one pickup. Now with two kids my twice a week pickup is definitely used. Kids are wasteful.
  23. This country peaked oil consumption a couple years ago but is growing domestic reserves significantly. I think waiting for higher prices isn't the starter you're looking for. But I do think Houston will eventually add commuter rail to the suburbs. I would favor that and favor transit that makes sense. I'm also probably in your generation. I DO NOT favor socialist style mandates requiring some all knowing government to decide where families and individuals should live. You really sound like you have a complex over this. You mentioned earlier you grew up in a suburb. It's like you can't get "urban" enough, whatever that means.
