  1. When George was at Yale, the Bush family was nowhere near as well-known as it is now. Only in America can many ignorant people call the president a dummy because SNL has led them to believe that. By the way, this isn't calling anyone on this forum out, becuase I can tell we have some very informed and very intelligent, and very passionate posters. But it irritates me sometimes to see people call the president an idiot, when they obviously have no idea what they are talking about. Ricco, I have to agree. Taxes are a necessary evil. I too enjoy my national security. And I don't like the corporate loopholes either. Remember, I'm conservative, not necessarily always Republican.
  2. I think he means the last standing part of the warehouse adjacent to CVS. I thought Hakeen Olajuwan was involved somehow. Does he still own the property?
  3. This is one of those rare times that I can say the building looks better than the photo, in my opinion.
  4. These high-tech aircraft were/are absolutely needed. Not for the utility of war, but for the prevention of war. I would say that there are few countries that would escalate a conflict with the U.S. because of our military superiority. (Aside from the N. Koreans and S.H.s of the world). I'm with you. While the national debt is high in nominal terms, it pales in comparison in real terms to the debt incurred by Reaganomics. I think you're going to see the positive outcome of the Bush taxcuts soon. CNBC ran a story during they're Power Lunch about how the U.S. has entered into an ownership society since W took office (home, stocks, bonds, businesses, etc.) as a result of the tax cuts. Tax cuts good, his spending bad. I tend to agree with you bigtex.
  5. one last point. I don't remember anyone asking John Kerry to take responsibility for Michael Moore. Why all the upset about the Swift Boat Ads now? I think all is fair in politics. Both sides have gotten in their cheap shots.
  6. seriously, why are you so angry? I think a voting record is indisputable. That was the jist of the Miller speach.
  7. Typical Democrat response. I've read the party platform, and no I don't agree with everything on there. Neither does Arnold Schwarzenegger or Giulliani, or McCain. But they are all good Republicans. You see we can have disagreements in the most civil sense as Republicans. What you've managed to do is typcial of the left-wing hate-driven propaganda. You've thrown around insults and demonic accusations, while at no time offering any ideas or intelligent debate. This is the downfall of the Democratic Party that lost an election after the most popular peacetime president in history.
  8. Maybe you're not looking in the right places. I'm living in New York now, but would be glad to help any time. Seeing the protests first hand make me more conservative than ever. The Democratic Party should distance themselves quickly from the far left. They turn politcs into a freak show. I've never seen so much vulgar hatred delivered toward one individual. I think the party has better ideals than that, and should be quick to prove it. On the seperation of Church and State. Find that in the Constitution. Doesn't exist. I guess it's no surprise who I'll vote for. That being said, I'm debating writing in McCain.
  9. I like the idea of public space here. It's central to the downtown area, and surrounded by clubs and bars. It seems like a natural gathering spot. I don't think you can compare this spot to other "failed" public spaces...like Market Square, which are poorly designed and in bad locations. I think you would need a lot of private money to make it happen though. Take a stroll through NYC's Central Park. Just about every major attraction has been "generously underwritten with funds from so-and-so". I would like to see more of that in Houston.
  10. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to real estate deals of this magnitude, but it seems a little premature to consider this one dead in the water.
