Amlaham
Couldn't find if there was an existing thread. But the pier one imports is being demolition and replaced with a chase bank. Drove by today and noticed half the building was already gone. Chase has an entire building directly across the street, could they be rebuilding and moving? It would make sense because they've done this with their other locations like the one on Westheimer and Beltway 8. If they did, their current building across the street could be redeveloped into something big! Building across the street

As you point out, they've done it in other locations (the branch on 19th in the Heights comes to mind). Also, the existing building is fairly old and was inherited by Chase when they acquired Washington Mutual - it was a former WaMu branch, and before that it was a Farm & Home Savings branch before that entity was in turn acquired by WaMu. Not exactly sure when the building was constructed, but the Farm & Home Savings branch there dated back to at least the early 1980s, if not earlier.
dbigtex56
To me, that Chase Bank across the street looks like one of those buildings that somehow remain intact after being toppled by an earthquake.

shasta
Anyone know what they are building here? This is the site across the street from Kroger where Pier 1 Imports used to be.
ErickEdgar
I think someone mentioned in the Montrose neighborhood post that it will be a new Chase bank.

On 6/17/2022 at 9:31 AM, Amlaham said: Nooo, this is good news, because that probably means they're going to consolidate their space and move out of their current location across the street (which is a significantly larger site). Now THAT site, I think is bound for something on a larger scale.

hindesky
Now open. Now closed although there are at least 3 other businesses in the building still working here for now. I'm betting they are waiting out their leases before anything starts.
