Lone Star College Kingwood plans to host an Oct. 4 groundbreaking ceremony for its Process Technology Center, a 40,200-square-foot facility on 8.3 acres in Generation Park, according to a release. The facility seeks to train students for entry-level careers as process technologists and operators in a range of industries from petrochemical to pharmaceutical. A recent report finds there's a growing need for middle-skilled jobs in Houston.

Every time I see a rendering like this for an area like that I think "I'll take the office building and the residential building for midtown please."

Yeah but imagine the guilt that comes with trying to walk into a meeting at an office at Redemption Square!

"Hello sir I'm looking for company that provides a service I need"

"WELL HAVE YOU REDEEMED YOUR SOUL TO OUR LORD AND SAVIOR YET"

Honestly though, McCord is 0/2 on naming schemes.

Every time I pass this area I can't help but think about the original statement about all the trees and how they will play a vital role in the development but so far it's flat grass like every other suburban office complex.

Where the construction is taking place now the trees where cleared long before McCord purchased the land. So basically they started with a empty field.

I have lived in the area about 17 years. When I moved to the area the previous owner was going to build a neighborhood on the land called Summer Creek.

McCord has has planted hundreds of live oaks and other plants along the newly constructed portions of WestLake Houston Parkway and Lockwood Rd. as well as around the man made lake they created.

The thousands of pine trees they planted on their property on the other side of the beltway are still standing.

I'm sure once they complete construction on the buildings they are working on now, they will plant trees around them.

The 4000-acre master-planned development near Summerwood partnered with the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce to release a survey asking what residents would like to see in the development. The survey requests feedback on dining options, shopping and fitness facility preferences as well as health and beauty options. The survey launched Thursday, April 20 and runs through Thursday, May 11.

I'll take a mattress firm, a nail salon, a cheap donut and kolache place, a second mattress firm, and a starbucks, adjacent to a public storage and a poorly maintained convenience store with taco trucks out front. Home sweet home.

I will take all of the above if they continue the cycle of stupid names. It's almost comica at this point. I hope it's called Revalations so I can go to Redemption Square and say to my friends, "Hey wanna check out Revelations? It's just around the corner!"

New industrial park underway at Generation Park

Houston-based McCord Development Inc., the entity behind Generation Park, is underway on a new industrial park in the massive mixed-use community in northeast Houston.

McCord Development is underway on Lockwood Business Park, a speculative project that's already secured an anchor tenant, Ryan McCord told the Houston Business Journal.

McCord is developing three speculative facilities at the 25-acre park; two buildings will house roughly 57,600 square feet of flex office or industrial space, and the third building will contain 44,800 square feet of space, per the park's marketing materials.

The anchor tenant, which will relocate its corporate headquarters to the park, wasn't disclosed. Two of the industrial park's five proposed buildings have been leased, according to marketing materials. Lockwood Business Park's first speculative building should deliver in the first or second quarter of 2018.

The park is located at 13300 Lockwood Rd., across the street from Houston-based TechnipFMC Plc's headquarters campus that opened last summer. Generation Park is a 4,000-acre commercial development located off Beltway 8 in the West Lake Houston region.

http://generationpark.com/august-construction-update-projects-wrapping-new-starts/

W

e’ve had a busy summer so far, both with wrapping up and starting new projects. On the wrapping up side, 250 Assay Street, the 86,523 SF mixed-use office building has reached substantial completion. The office buildout for McCord Development’s new headquarters on the 2nd floor is well underway with occupancy expected at the end of August. The anchor tenant, Apache Industrial Services, will begin construction on their new headquarters on the 4th and 5th floors very shortly with occupancy expected before the end of the year.

Only the third floor of office remains available for lease with suites ranging from ±2,000 to ±17,600 SF. We are seeking a restaurateur interested in opening a flagship dining experience in the one-of-a-kind 7,677 SF “Jewel Box” restaurant space.

As 250 Assay Street’s construction comes to a close, we are in full force on two new projects at Generation Park. The first is the beautiful plaza in Redemption Square just outside the front doors of 250 Assay Street. The plaza, expected to be completed at the end of September, features a large lawn, an assortment of trees, a tranquil water feature, and an artistic covered stage for performances and events. We look forward to bringing the Lake Houston community together in the near future for many great events.

Not far from 250 Assay Street and Redemption Square in Generation Park is the 25-acre Lockwood Business Park. Site clearing has been completed, and the footings for GHX Industrial’s 143,500 SF Houston distribution center and headquarters have started going in the ground. GHX is expected to move into their new building in the Lockwood Business Park at the end of 2017. The Lockwood Business Park is located on Lockwood Road just south of West Lake Houston Parkway and across from TechnipFMC’s 173-acre campus.

Just did a week over at FMC Technip  That was by far the easiest commute I've done from Midtown/Third Ward for a project.  Don't see the appeal of the luxury apartments and fake city center they're building when you could live in Midtown with a 25-30min commute all highway.

I think the City Center would be for residents of Lake Houston and Fall Creek. But I agree, the area is very easy to get to on counterflow. I lived on the east end and the straight shot up 59 for my roommate and I was a breeze. To be honest, I rarely see traffic going to down town before 7:30am either.

Well, its a nice looking office building, I would hate to block the public's view from the freeway. The apartments will still look nice. Hopefully all this expedites the buildout of redemption square. On another note, with the quick buildout of this and the the Class A apartments at Fall Creek, me thinks that there may be more future potential growth in this area.

https://www.bisnow.com/houston/news/industrial/ikea-buys-160-acres-in-generation-park-87684

IKEA is under contract to acquire 160 acres in McCord Development's Generation Park, bolstering its distribution network in Houston. IKEA will build at least 1.2M SF in Generation Park, the Houston Business Journal reports. IKEA's last big move in Houston was leasing 1M SF by the Port of Houston in 2016, an unusual move for a company that typically owns its own space. Though that deal was short — five years with an option to exit early — it was far and away the largest industrial deal of that quarter, and it triggered other distribution deals in the area.

A Courtyard by Marriott hotel is going up in Generation Park, a master-planned business park of McCord Development in northeast Houston.

Houston-based McCord announced the groundbreaking of the 5-story, 144 room hotel, which will be the first hotel in the Redemption Square lifestyle and entertainment center. Completion is targeted for 2019.

Hotel Development Services, which purchased a one-acre site in Redemption Square, is developing the hotel, its first in Texas. It will have more than 2,000 square feet of meeting space, a business center, 24-hour market, fitness center, outdoor pool, casual workspaces and a bistro.

American Hospitality Management will oversee the day-to-day construction and management of the property for Hotel Development Services.

"We continue to bring amenities to our mixed-use district, Redemption Square, that will benefit both the business at Generation Park and the Lake Houston communities that surround it," McCord Development president Ryan McCord said in an announcement.

Thats the current plan for this NE Campus. Have both in one location so you can walk from community college intro classes to 4 year degree classes.

San Jacinto College offers two-year associate degrees. The college is in talks with four-year universities to set up a center where students could transfer to the university “right down the hall” to get a bachelor’s degree, all within the Generation Park campus. This would be the first time San Jacinto College has such a program.
