Katydogs1
I just saw this and thought it would be an intresting addition to the area. Looks like a waterpark near Katy Mills Mall. https://www.facebook.com/KatyTexas/photos/a.247109592060436.43711.246754612095934/725934494177941/?type=1&theater

curbur
It is good for the area, but I do agree with the comments stating the roads need to be widened or the park should be off 99 somewhere nearby.

cspwal
I think there might be a thread for "water park" in Katy and points west But wow this looks nice
monarch
i am loving the idea of this cool new water park development. however, i didn't realize that TEXAS was hereby known for it's TYPHOONS....
cloud713
The Katy folks seem to be up in arms about this development causing more traffic in the area.. irony at its finest, huh?
j_cuevas713
The people in Katy are idiots. All they want is their fields of nothing and their Bass Pro Shop.

j_cuevas713
Wow whatHaha I'm joking man... no I totally get the crazy traffic argument, but this would be a nice addition to the Houston area.
cloud713
Yeah. This should be a welcome addition/amenity to the area.. Just thought it was kind of funny that some people from Katy would complain about a new development bringing more traffic with it.. As if that isn't the epitome of what (new) Katy is.

As if that isn't the epitome of what (new) Katy is. Of course they'd complain in Katy about more traffic. More traffic means slower evacuations in case of a hurricane. Sorry, couldn't resist.
LTAWACS
Haha I'm joking man... no I totally get the crazy traffic argument, but this would be a nice addition to the Houston area.Unfortunately (or fortunately) this is outside the acceptable driving distance (for a generic waterpark) for most residents of the Greater Houston area.
Trae
It wouldn't be in the City of Katy if it was off of 99 somewhere. Many people in "Katy" don't realize they don't actually live in Katy, so they say things like that. It is the same reason why the new football stadium was built in the City of Katy and then people living south of 10 complained. There will be road improvements too, so no need to worry there. I doubt a waterpark creates a big traffic nightmare here. It isn't like it would be year round either.

BigFootsSocks
Oh wow, I didn't realize that this was actually under construction. Smart move by the developers to keep it quiet after all the weird backlash they got from some Katy residents.

august948
Unfortunately (or fortunately) this is outside the acceptable driving distance (for a generic waterpark) for most residents of the Greater Houston area. A straight shot down I10, especially on weekends? That's within the acceptable driving distance for many residents of the greater Houston area. gmac
With Cypress, Katy and Sugar Land all within good distance, the rest of Houston probably isn't needed to make the park a success.

IronTiger
That's not too bad if you live nearby and expect to go often. I bet it's inflated to discourage people from turning it into a daycare for unruly kids, like Astroworld became.
august948
I bet it's inflated to discourage people from turning it into a daycare for unruly kids, like Astroworld became. That will still happen, the rowdies will just be from slightly more affluent families.

cloud713
Wow. This guy consistently flies his drone into construction sites across Houston. The updates are neat, but when is he going to get arrested?
