New Development Map From Central Houston

Recommended Posts

Updated development map looks like they did a good job keeping up with all the new projects sprouting up downtown. It's good to see all the planned and under construction blocks and can't wait for more details to surface because they didn't include Hines' multifamily and Hilcorps new tower.

Looks like they left off the Hines proposed Market Square Residential and the other 30+ story residential as part of hotel conversion.

Wow!  Downtown is going to be a madhouse by this time next year with all of the construction:

Marriott Marquis

GRB Parking Garage/Retail

Nau Center

500 Crawford apartments (Finger)

HSPVA

Chevron (1600 Louisiana)

609 Main at Texas (Hines)

Hyatt Place

Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites

Holiday Inn/Savoy

Bell/Leeland/Main/Fannin Apartments

The above I think are all either certain or highly likely to be under construction by mid-2014.

woah.. Potential Hines Residential Tower at Market Square? i remember hearing something about that possibility, but i always thought they were referring to the Linbeck International Tower and that the design got switched over to offices from residential or something, ha. so 2 possible new towers at Market Square? very nicee.. any renderings/articles/threads about the residential tower? sorry, im a little excited. this is the first ive seen of anyone officially acknowledging it.

I don't understand why Hines can't buy those low rise(1-2 story) buildings at the southern end of the block and give the tenants some ground floor retail space in their new tower. That way they have more room to work with and gives the tenants some state of the art space in nice building(I think Hines should let them own it like a condo deal so they retain ownership of the same amount of space they originally occupied to entice them to say yes).

I believe Swamplot and the Chronicle reported on the Hines residential building, but I don't remember if we created a thread for it.

I'd rather we keep the older buildings in place. They add great character to the area.  There is no shortage of space for Hines' new development.

Agreed. I'm not sure which "1-2" story building your talking about, but I'm glad they are building around the 10-15 story buildings on the east side of the block, creating a multi building, more "urban" setting. A few people were upset about Hines not building around the Texas Tower at 609. I guess that one was already empty though and it was just easier for Hines to knock it down than take ownership of it and try renovating/leasing it out.

Where can you download this map?  I've got what I thought was the "latest" development map and it is not dated October 21.

Here: http://www.downtownhouston.org/resource/development/

The leasing package for Greenstreet has a similar on page 6, on the right. The map list 402 Main (Citizen Bank Building) as a planned development as well.

Sounds good.  I would hope to see a couple of other smaller (200 or so room hotels) in and around the historical district and on Main Street as nice infill.

Would make sense if Midway were behind one of those other hotels...but who knows?

I would be very happy to see some additional hotels (either new construction or renovation) take some spaces downtown.  Infill is glorious!

We are slowly filling in the doughnut!

Under development:

Marriot 806 Main

Holiday Inn

Planned:

Hyatt Place

Hampton Inn

Marriot Convention Center

Another I believe near Toyota Center

Don't know the other two.

Couldn't list them all from the top of my head, but as TowerSpotter said one may be the rumored Ritz Carlton. The other is the Greenstreet Hotel, proposed by Midway.
