"We have members of the Ion staff who are going to be integrated to the Rice Alliance," Cherukuri says. "The direction of this is really so that we can no longer stay behind the hedges and do more for the Houston community."

Sounds like more of a satellite campus.

Does anyone know when Common Bond On-the-Go closed in The Ion? It was located at 4201 Main St, Suite 110.

Has anyone heard or seen anything pertaining to Cafe Ion? I think this is replacing Common Bond On-the-Go's location at The Ion.

A food and beverage concept named Cafe Ion is opening at The Ion. It's occupying the unit at 4201 Main St, Ste 110. Common Bond On-the-Go previously occupied the unit.

Houston Business Journal reported on Cafe Ion earlier in the month. I somehow missed it.

As mentioned in a previous post, Cafe Ion replaces Common Bond On-the Go at The Ion. Common Bond On-the-Go was located at 4201 Main St, Suite 110.

An excerpt from the Houston Business Journal article:

The Houston Business Journal has confirmed that the Common Bond On the Go location in the Ion has closed and will be replaced with a new concept called Café Ion.

At this stage, details about the new concept are sparse, including when it is scheduled to open.

Recent leasing materials for the Ion indicate Kokoro is coming to The Ion in Midtown. The Japanese restaurant has a location in downtown's Bravery Chef Hall.

Below is a link to the office leasing brochure for the Ion. Stream Realty Partners is the office leasing agent.

As noted in a post above, Kokoro has signed on to lease a space in the Eagle Street retail development. I don't know the street address for Kokoro's forthcoming Midtown location. However, the building is located on the 4111 Fannin St parcel. The Japanese restaurant is slated to open Summer 2024, according to leasing materials.

Earlier this month, Houston Business Journal reported on Kokoro expanding its footprint to Midtown.

As mentioned in a previous posts, Kokoro is opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant in The Ion development.  The Japanese eatery will be located at 4111 Fannin St, Suite 110.

An excerpt from the Houston Business Journal article:

Additionally, chefs Patrick Pham and Daniel Lee plan to open a new Kokoro location at the Ion, according to a filing submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation... Rice Management Co. and Huffman also declined to comment on the new Kokoro location.

I lived in a studio apartment in 4102 Caroline in 1985. This will be the second of my old apartments to be torn down. The first, which was also my first Montrose apartment, was on W. Alabama at Mulberry near the Menil.

Late August has an opening date. Houston Chronicle reports the restaurant will open to the public next week on March 25.

The restaurant is the latest dining concept from Lucille's Hospitality Group. It's located on the ground floor of the Ion at 4201 Main St, Suite 120.

More on the restaurant's design from the article published today:

But the airy space doesn’t erase the Sears history completely, with the dining room retaining some of the original terrazzo tiles in its faded shades of pink and gray with cracks and dents.

Landscaper told me they were adding 10 trees, 3 so far. What kind of trees are these?

Looks like those are American Sycamore trees. Love the white bark they have the green leaves stand out during the springtime because of it.

Frankfurt, Germany has a pathway along the river with pleached (trained/trimmed) sycamores along it where they provide a consistent canopy. It is incredible.

I believe we saw the same treatment of Sycamore's in Wiesbaden near a Casino. They had flat tops almost like umbrellas but really shaded and beautiful. I wish they would have trained the ones downtown like that.

Sycamores are beautiful but they are an extremely difficult tree to clean up after. The bark falls off, the large round sees fall off and break up, the huge leaves fall. It's constant maintenance. When the bark does fall the new white bark is really beautiful
