  1. Regardless of the new name, I am proud that once again we will get to finance a future stadium for millionaire and/or billionaire sports team owners. That's why I propose the Houston Leeches. Time to pay up, suckas!!!
  2. I hear you...I think most fans probably care more about how the ball is moved on the field but an annoying name can be a distraction...it's why I've always liked my nickname as opposed to my given name-which really DOES suck!
  3. I hope they find a better name. Not because I find 1836 offensive-I don't. I find it lame and unimaginative. As I've said before, I think the name "Challangers" would be more in keeping with other space-based team names such as the Astros and the Rockets...I can't bring myself to lump in the Texans as it usually triggers my gag reflex.
  4. The streets Fannin and San Jac are major thoroughfares. For no other reason than emergency vehicles [Fannin=straight shot to the TMC] the city would never agree. Even in the preliminary plans was there any question that Fannin and San Jac would remain open.
  5. Me too because you can never spend enough money on one-time events for former future rappers and their blinged up crack whores to really put your city in the best light. Oh and that green neon thing in Dallas? "Oh thank heaven for 7 11"
  6. Yes. The booth they used is marked so you could sit there if you feel the need...but anyplace in the PS is a great place to sit and eat delicious Cardiac on a Plate [my favorite]
  7. Perhaps if every city just said "No"...oh hell, it's all water under the bridge. I know I'm in the minority but I could never vote for welfare for billonaire sports team owners. Having a losing NFL team is not nearly important as having better schools and cleaner water-amoung other things. GO TEXANS!!! WE'RE # LAST!! WE'RE # LAST!! WE'RE #......
  8. ummmm...my point is why are we financing millionaire/billionaire sport franchise owners at all? Metro is a public service paid for by taxpayers...I guess my cut of media advertising revenues from the taxpayer funded stadiums we built for the privatly owned Rockets, Astros and Texans got lost in the mail.
  9. Ha Ha...silly wabbit...you meant OUR 80 million, didn't you? You don't really think the team's owners are going to pay for this, do you? You are such a lovable kidder, DJ
  10. I like the Harrod's idea. Big and bold. But while we wait for something like that to happen, it would be nice to see Foley's/Macy's go back to the 10 story department store I knew growing up. I used to love going up and down those escalators in the middle with my mom and dad and sisters shopping for everything from clothes to toys to furniture to whatever. It was like Macy's on Harold Square. That was a great place. Sakowitz across the street was similar as well.
  11. Ok, MiDTOWNeR, you win. There is nothing so darn special about a HOB-unless you like live music. I guess I missed out on the ghetto people in Chicago. In addition, I seem to have missed the HOB at Times Square the last 10 -15 times I've been there since the closest one is in Atlantic City. Perhaps someone else could explain it to you better.
  12. Shhhhhh....that was my secret! Spec's produce is the best and no more expensive-sometimes cheaper that Randalls and Kroger. You can make a killer salad that tastes like you just picked it out of the garden! BTW, that Whole Foods on Voss isn't going anywhere. It's a cash cow for them.
  13. I agree, strange name indeed. In case, however, when you hear a whinning backlash-I'm betting on it-remind the whiners that the Texans were at war with Mexico for independence. While Santa Anna's troops snoozed under the live oaks at San Jacinto, Houston's troops woke them up-so to speak Santa Anna was captured the next day trying to escape wearing a disguise and admitted defeat. So inshort, there was a war, the Texans won and Mexico lost. No one stole anything from anyone. {i just wish they had used "The Challangers" }
  14. HUH? That has all the imagination of a cardboard box. It's not even a good copy of bad architecture.
  15. Today is the 25th. I read the chron article but is there any news and/or updated website? HOB Chicago
  16. They could hit HISD and Westheimer by taking a right off of Richmond on Weslyan to Westhiemer then a left. That would cover Highland Village, the two new developments and the Galleria and save the live oaks on Richmond through Afton Oaks. It's a no-brainer to me.
