  1. http://www.publicworks.cityofhouston.gov/b...map_network.pdf shows the network map. You'll need to rotate it and zoom in.
  2. Not officialy until the 23rd-although we did get as far as the metal detectors before being turned away last night.
  3. I stopped at Target and asked the contractor what the new space next to Target was going to be. He couldn't tell me what was going in other than saying it was lease space. But he did say it will not be a SuperTarget.
  4. Martha and H2B are correct. There were 3D injun savages cookin up Savage Fried Chicken on the roof. Do either of you remember the buffalo on the Town House at Waugh and Allen Parkway?
  5. They've also returned the blue car to the cross-walk...the lady in red is back in danger!
  6. "...longer activity time"? Than it already has? I think you'll find alot of opposition to destroying one of the last historic movie houses left in Houston. But then this IS Houston.
  7. "ohh snap" is so yesterday in the gay world-he must be straight. Guys like that always feed off our throw-aways.
  8. From the tone of your posts, you seem to be enrolled in one continuous drinking contest. What a waste of a beautiful campus.
  9. Quite a few do. Especially ones with manners better than a 7th grader.
  10. Of course we can always do better. Our new park-if you are into comparisons with NYC-is more akin to Bryant Park, only larger. More activities in the space allowed. So for now this is what we have. One day-hopefully-I45 will be removed from Sam Houston Park and the city's "frontyard" will be allowed to develop as it always should have.
  11. It is spelled "Marfreless"-not "Mafreless" and it occupies space in the same building the theatre is in. Now what's going where again?
  12. I can believe the Crate and Barrel rumors but a 30 story condo-and is the garage intended for the "new" condo or is it just there for the Sunglass Hut?
  13. Your post is a bit disjointed-not sure what all the commas are for. Anyway, old #1 was quite avant garde for Houston at the time: It is now the Landrys Aquarium and all we get is a JiffyLube.
  14. Duplicate topic. Needs to be merged with original.
  15. http://www.houstondowntownpark.org/index.html
  16. I've just been posting fire station pics to show the variety and imagination-not neccessarily for downtown. ...but the one I posted earlier in Hiroshima could go in almost any DT. Here's some on the opposite end of the spectrum: Boy Scout troop 60-er...I mean station 33 Gomer's Axel and Transmission...wait-it's the Cross City FD
  17. Ultimatly WE are the clients as we foot the bill for yet another mediocre property. More firestations:
  18. Malls and the suburbs killed Main Street. When I was growing up the only place to shop was Main Street unless you wanted to shop at Weiners. Gulfgate, Northwest, the Galleria, Sharpstown all had the major stores. Why schlep DT when you could buy the same things at Foley's or Penney's at NW mall? Now malls-except the Galleria-seem to be going out of fashion. The current trend is the Town and Country model: open air and parking in front.
  19. Absolutly. Houston is flush with mediocre architectual firms who can throw out a Jiffy Lube style firestation in their sleep.. We can look out side the box and not pander to the mostly mediocre architects here in town by seeking out the best for such a civic statement as the premier fire station for the 4th largest city in the US. An architect's fee has traditional been 6%. Sometimes it gets up to 8-9%. The problem seems to be the selectors and their inability to look beyond the Jiffy Lube/Harris county Courthouse mode of cheap and tacky pre-cast concrete architecture.
