  1. Is that in the bounds of First Montrose Commons? If so, you may have already asked the group, but I'd start there (or any neighborhood group it's in). I know Sixth Ward has a collection of appraisal images (not sure of the dates) of many homes and also have pulled together some from personal collections. I'd contact someone there to see how they acquired them. Archives out there may help too, depending on who the designed it, did the construction, etc.
  2. Current Google street view (empty lot for sale) - BUT - this lot is now technically replatted as part of 4 Braeswood Court, which is the house just southwest of the lot http://goo.gl/maps/Mqcxr
  3. I came across some pictures - I made it there a little too late back in 2007: http://arch-ive.org/archive/4615-post-oak-place/
  4. Thanks for the updates - I agree, maybe it's just a lazy rendering and we need to wait and see. All in all, though, better than the alternative..
  5. Wow, I found the pictures (from February 2008) and they actually have remnants of the Ivy Russell name, not the stamps. There was a "big bonus stamps" sign sitting in a window though. I'll have them up soon - Subdude, can I use your Ivy Russell image? I'll credit how you wish
  6. Yeah, that one had a pretty nice redo: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=1102+yale+st&hl=en&ll=29.790712,-95.399008&spn=0.00797,0.013937&sll=29.791110,-95.398613&layer=c&cbp=13,45.2,,0,-3.76&cbll=29.79067,-95.398856&hnear=1102+Yale+St,+Houston,+Texas+77008&t=h&z=17&panoid=QzppOGd3SFLXNtMBaIiavQ I have some pre-renovation pictures of when the newer (Eckerd's era) facade was removed and the stamps signs are showing.
  7. Oh, it was demolished late 2011 - right about after we talked about it. This is a glimpse of what is used to be. If anyone has any pre-demo pictures they'd like to share, please message me! http://arch-ive.org/archive/on-leong/
  8. I can't remember if I posted this somewhere here or not, but I have an old picture (early 1980s) with a Weingarten's grocery bag in it (if I can find the original scan I'll repost something larger):
  9. Here's a 1951 Downtown Chevrolet (later Mike Persia) rendering: http://arch-ive.org/archive/downtown-chevrolet-company/
  10. So the SLS will be going away - I think it's a ridiculous car but I have a soft spot for those wings! http://jalopnik.com/its-the-end-of-the-road-for-the-mercedes-sls-amg-1463157436
  11. ABC13 folks got a tour of the Celestial Suite in the Crowne Plaza, former Astroworld Hotel (future uncertain): http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news%2Flocal&id=9323116
  12. More from chron.com: http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/Astrodome-to-be-considered-for-historic-landmark-4975036.php
  13. Originally Phil Rich Fan Co.: http://arch-ive.org/archive/phil-rich/
  14. Gawd. A county stadium can't get county support for anything. Business can't make the $ numbers work to their liking. Folks call for "preservationists" (anyone that likes the idea of saving it?) to foot the bill. I understand it's a monumental (yeah yeah) cause - the physical size and the disrepair it has been allowed to fall in to - it's just sad that there hasn't been a good combination of brains and dollars to do something yet. I think it would be neat as a part museum/gallery/tourism (tours) facility. Sports exhibits (think the old Fingers) and so on. And then there's the last ditch Summit idea - Astromegachurch (lol)
  15. Years later but I found an image from when it was built (and also took a current one). It was originally the El Tex Temple No. 114, Dramatic Order of Knights of Khorassan: http://arch-ive.org/archive/3801-garrow/
  16. Yeah - southern view from the St. Anne turnaround (with a walkway over Peckham St.)
  17. An update on the Texaco Building redevelopment - looks like it will start within a month: http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2013/08/old-texaco-building-getting-a-new-life/
  18. I have never seen anything else placed in the curbed signs, but when it was the Plaza it had other ones (I'd love to see if there were any in the Heaven & Earth days..)
  19. Permits are just for "office repairs" and "interior demolition" so far.
  20. Also - does anyone know what the two flat panels are (were) coming from the side of the building facing the courtyard?
  21. Apologies if this has being posted already - neat photos of the Savoy interior: http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/a2013/06/holiday-inn-to-be-built-in-place-of-abandoned-hotel-in-downtown-houston/?cmpid=hcsel
