  1. Here is the safety perimeter: http://www.arch-ive.org/prudential/safetyperimeter_prudential.pdf
  2. I'm writing this being pretty naive about the trail, but why would one like this even be in existence without proper street crossings at larger intersections?
  3. ^I agree about turning traffic yielding (though whether on foot or bike I assume no one will yield to me in any situation). In the Chronicle article, I believe it said the vehicle was heading west on 11th with a green light - so the lady crossed 11th from the N/S Heights trail in the path of the car?
  4. Would a few 311 requests change this? Or someone in that area contacting a councilperson?
  5. I wear a Road ID - highly recommended
  6. Yeah, it looks like they're all part of the same deal (MAZZ-1 - MAZZ-11, too!)
  7. There are a ton of permits bought by MAZZ-7, LLC for the south side of W 25th - I couldn't find any yet for the north side. They were all "NEW S.F. RESIDENCE W/ATTACHED GARAGE"
  8. Very neat! Thanks for making the album accessible!
  9. http://swamplot.com/mod-richmond-ave-church-ready-to-fall-for-new-apartments/2011-09-06/
  10. Gateway was right about where the Target on S Main is now (the pool is pretty easy to spot in the old aerials) - Grace Courts was at 8900 Main which is the empty lot next to the car wash. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=205937566729555760537.00049d63df2f256a71c77&ll=29.681803,-95.442164&spn=0.107379,0.222988&t=h&z=13
  11. It was the Alief Medical Professional Building/Alief General Hospital most recently I think, and in the late 1970s the Bellaire West Medical Center. I couldn't find much.. This April 2000 Chronicle article mentions a 13-month renovation: http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl?id=2000_3205373 and this June 1997 article mentions it was boarded up: http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl?id=1997_1417994
  12. Another place that is interesting is Brownwood in Baytown (now the Baytown Nature Center). Last time I went there were still visible slabs and other subdivision remnants. This was MacArthur street, now a nature trail: ..and here's a HAIF discussion about it:
  13. I found the Saunders subdivision off of 59 - it looks like it was gone by April 2005 and the roads and houses were just being built in the 1953 view. Also, here are block book maps - the area was Hall Park and/or Farrington Place: http://books.tax.hctx.net/v079/AE1997_79_0079.jpg http://books.tax.hctx.net/v068/AE1997_68_0027.jpg Harris County Flood Control owns them so Halls Bayou must have had issues.. 2011: April 2005: February 2004: December 1978:
  14. You can either attach images to the post (in the "full editor" there are "choose file" and "attach file" buttons) or host them somewhere and insert the link to the image with the picture button -- I just posted some of the Ora St. area in the Hempstead Drive In thread - here's a street photo:
  15. They had bells set up at the Kroger on Sabo (but have since removed them maybe) - they were to acknowledge good service or something like that..
  16. New agent, $630,000: http://search.har.com/engine/10-Legend-Ln-Houston-TX-77024_HAR41603794.htm
  17. Very neat - do you happen to know the address?
  18. Yes thanks - I meant to post that too! There are some great images (though I wish the interface was more user friendly..) http://weblogs.lib.uh.edu/speccol/2011/08/05/new-historic-maps-digital-collection/
  19. The 1976 directory lists Dokey Hall / Clover Ballroom at 316 Milby St.
  20. Here is the listing for Park Place Pharmacy: http://www.loopnet.com/xNet/Mainsite/Listing/Profile/Profile.aspx?LID=17265529&SRID=1948795489&StepID=101&LinkCode=20280&DisableBackToLink=true&PgCxtDir=Lateral
  21. The school was torn down within the last couple weeks - unfortunately it's not the easiest building to capture but here are a few shots before it was torn down: more here: http://www.arch-ive.org/hornelementary.php Here's the 1953 aerial - you can see its "wings" and just how new Bellaire was:
