  1. Galleria III has been emptied of stores and they're not even running the heat/AC anymore!
  2. Over the past week a demo contractor has been taking out the interior dry wall on the lower levels. The bldg is more transparent as a result.
  3. Looks like the Mercer is being painted grey and windows are being punched through the masonry on the east/west elevations. Is this the tide turning on __the age of beige?
  4. Metro has zip cars parked overnight in the lot north of their bldg.
  5. A magnolia tree that was on the Southeast corner of the site has been cut down.
  6. Wow.. I walk through that parking lot (now a park) everyday. Thanks for sharing.
  7. 1/2 Price Books would look good in SoundWaves' location. SoundWaves could probably downsize at this point too, does anyone go there anymore (or am I officially olden)?
  8. Its been a joke for some time now, also I will miss the Binswanger glass on this site.
  9. I'm starting to miss the zen of the sea of parking lots in the (now former) parking lot district. Times they a changin'
  10. The limestone clad pilasters on the street level have been removed.
  11. Maybe we're getting some corten steel sculptures by Richard Serra.
  12. Nice, the cafeteria is still there. Those diagonal cross frames look pretty interesting and the vertical inset fins help dissolve the bulk of the floorplate. The existing bldg is pretty bulky for it's height or maybe that's an optical illusion of the solar shades. As far as missing the way the bldg looks now, I think I'll miss the newspaper stands along the sidewalk the most. I didn't grow up in the 60's but it's easy to see the appeal of its nostalgia. btw the bldg currently has it's holiday lighting up, enjoy it while it lasts.
  13. It's a large, undeveloped greenfield in the middle of Midtown; that also doubles as parking for the resturants/bars across the street. No rush.
  14. Anything's better than that black wrought-iron fence and private greenfield. Also more apts in Midtown means more pressure to lower rents in light of the recent spike, esp considering this is next to a gold buyer and a street "pain clinic."
  15. It's conventionally Houston in it's site design (which is to say it appeals to those driving down Travis). I'm sure the more urban-scaled Main St. side will satisfy most once construction is done and the retailers have moved in. My only disappointment is the parapet height is ~340', only 20' taller than 1300 Main (which means I probably won't see anything except for the roof line/mechanical roost).
  16. It could be a view from the HPD with Dallas St. crossing in front, looking northeast.
  17. Those three skylobby-elements your referring to are presently the mechanical floors.
  18. ^paging SevFiv to the ExxonMobil tower thread.. Btw I hope the Bell St. Cafe stays after Exxon leaves.
  19. That McDonalds exterior is being renovated to the new boxy, rough faced CMU look. It's not going anywhere soon. The bus station is optimally located next to the rail line and the downtown transit station. Anywhere's else would be a burden on the people who use these services. The area is perfectly fine in it's current trajectory.
  20. Quite a bold statement, do you work for the spec manufacturers? How do you know it's future patina or ceramic integrity?
