  1. One more of the street scene along Leeland St. looking east.
  2. Why would they take out a city permit to close the sidewalk if it was just to keep out squatters/undesirables? Couldn’t they just board up the bldg as it was before? Or maybe they can’t get the windows out without breaking them in some cases and the city required them to close the sidewalk to prevent pedestrians getting rained upon with glass shards. It would be consistent with the sidewalks that have been closed (the eastern and northern sidewalks below the curtain wall facades). Check the twitter feed, this is an ongoing renovation. The old abandoned greek restaurant on the northwest parcel looks like it’s about to be demo’d too.
  3. Anyone remember the first rave party in Houston was in the bank vault of this place? I think it was 1995 or maybe 1994; NEW WORLD (waaay before my time but some older friends told me about it in the early aughts).
  4. They're interior demo subs on break. Not sure what the plan is... might just be the bank trying to flip it onto a hotel developer.
  5. In addition to DrLan34's comment: That's the old city permit bldg, it's been abandoned for about 3-4 years now. Rumor has it that a residential developer is going to do a 5 wrap; in fact I think Bianchi did some prelim renderings for'm.
  6. cited sited sighted edit: My bolding. just like: there their they're
  7. Curb cuts looking pretty tricky for that teaser lot. That site is ~3' above street grade on the north. Pretty radical how they are showing a replacement of the exterior structural masonry with steel and glass curtain wall. Sky window cut in the addition's masonry is great bldg advertisement from the freeway (in addition tp the digital clock). Hope the mish-mash of times and styles works, I gotta look at this thing everyday. +1 semi-public fountain for the list.
  8. ^Looks like it; the same crew that's been doing the clean up has been in that bldg too. It also looks like they set up these perimeter fences on the north and eastern sides of the block so that they can punch out windows without having to worry about pedestrians below. Here (in the pic above) they fenced the entire north sidewalk except where the parking meter is located.
  9. Yes, separate the cars from the highway, that'll learn'm. What world do you live in?
  10. The Pierce spews air, light, and noise pollution 24/7, 365 days a year. Light-rail does none of that crap to the immediate environment in the scale and duration that the highway does. Google "micro-particulate pollution" = "cancer".
