  1. I thought about hi-jacking the, "why are condo fees so high?" thread, but figured some people may be interested enough to discuss this at length. The other thread discussed the cost comparison between Houston and DC. The more Houston builds condo's and they become more common, will prices drop? Or as downtown development grows, will the demand for the location even things out or actually cause a rise in prices?
  2. Could it also be possible that back then, beauty was considered more often when building something?
  3. Right before this the article talked about the residential building for graduates, so I'm confused if this quote is talking about the building for the graduates or the undergrad students. They are two different projects, right? And I couldn't tell by the writing if this new building is going to be a mixed development or not.
  4. So number one on the list can be crossed off as completed. Can any of the others?

  6. Ok. Thanks. You too Ricco. Still highly controversial since life (whether it is or isn't)is involved and the weighing whether it's worth it for the "greater good."
  7. After talking to a friend over the weekend, I'm left to wonder if the abortion issue even matters. The friend brought to my attention that even if a candidate is against abortion, they never even do anything about it; something I haven't really realized. Not to stir up another argument, but we all know it's there. Maybe the new abortion issue is embryonic stem-cell research? Which of course is a direct affect of abortion, isn't it? Is that the only way they're accumulated, by abortion? It seems as though there are more supporters of embryonic stem-cell research regardless of party affiliate, although if there is a great divide, it mirrors the abortion issue. Anyone know where 2008's candidates stand?
  8. Living without absolutes and instead by relativism is a slippery slope. First it's ok to lie, then it's ok to steal, and the it's ok to murder. And why? Becasue these are "my" morals, and nobody can judge me. Who's to say I can't lie, cheat, murder and steal? I don't have to live by anyone elses rules. It's all relative, so I can do what I want. And it's probably not fair to lump everyone who stands for something and then fails to carry out the "right choice" into one pot. Who here hasn't done that? I'm sure you're talking about the exceptions though, right?
  9. Merril Hodge???? The guy from Tampa Bay...not really a RB though
  10. Yeah, you're right. I think it does depend, "on where you think life begins."
  11. Sorry, I made a hasty generalization. But it seems from my experiences that for the most part, that's the case. There are always exceptions.
  12. I agree somewhat. I think/wonder if it's because they feel like they need to stick together, when in reality, 99% of America already accepts them just like they accept any other color of people.
  13. I agree. I don't think we need them either. But I'm not black, so maybe I'm missing something. And I was just presenting the possibilites if this is in fact the route it could go, and if so, if it's a good option.
  14. Could UH or someone take over but keep the TSU name? Ya know, just run the place and guide it, while still reeping the benefits. Would they consider that or is that just bad marketing strategy? I'm just asking since if they did that, they could keep the black heritage.
  15. Life is precious, but you're almost comparing apples to oranges. In one case a human life who has no choice and has not commited one single act in life is being killed, while someone who unjustly took someone elses life out of hate and the evilness of their heart is receiving justice for their actions. Two completely different cases. And while life is important, every crime and wrong-doing has a different degree of penalty. And what I can't figure out is how people who are pro-abortion are anti-death penalty. Abortions take away lives of innocent babies, yet the same people want to save the life of an evil murderer? Must be drinkin the same kool-aid, haha
  16. TJ, I did mention that those type of decisions are very tough to make and I'm willing to say that it's somewhat of a gray area for me in my thinking. I don't know yet. And they are not MY morals. Like I said, contrary to general belief, life and things in it are not relative. This argument goes much much deeper than abortion or any other issues that might come up in any election.
  17. nmainguy, thanks for the 'due respect.' I give you the same. I've read the whole debate between you and Cdeb. So what I say may just reitterate what he/she said. But this is why I view those issues as moral issues. Because they deal with right and wrong. Murder, is wrong. Choosing to take someones life away from them is wrong. I understand the rape, incest argument, etc. Cdeb made a good point on them, and honestly I'm not real sure about those specific issues. They're very tough decisions. ... The government mandates laws for people who do "wrong" or are "evil." That's what they are there for; their purpose. I believe murder of an unborn and an 80 year old are equally murder. Both are morally wrong acts and are bad enough that they warrant punishment by law. The main issue we have between us besides it being morally wrong, is the argument of "choice." Arguing for pro murder of an unborn child, is like arguing for murder of an infant or any other age. It's like saying this, "Why is the government telling me what I can and can't do with my daughter? If I want to kill her, it's my choice. They have no business getting into my personal family life." You could insert any other crime or morally wrong act in there and you'd get the same idea. And the other big thing is that not everything is relative. It's not about what I think is okay and not okay, what's good or bad. There are absolutes in this world, and they apply to moral decisions as well, including whether or not it's okay to abort a child. nmain, I understand your argument. I just think it's off. I hope you understand the argument me and cdeb are making and that you at least think about it. And that is why I vote based on moral stances first, because life is too important. I would also hope that we'd all reason with our thoughts in an objective selfless way, and when thinking about these things, we'd consider what my quote says by Abraham Lincoln down below. With all due respect, that's my argument.
  18. I've never seen this rendering of Hardy Rail Yard project, have y'all? I got it from here: http://www.aiahouston.org/udc/CURRENTEVENTS-jun04.htm Or this one:
  19. You may be confused. Galleria is just a generic name, like "mall." Am I right guys, or no?
  20. Hmm, ok. I was there during Christmas, so I was kind of wondering about more recent ones. But I'll go back and take a look at the ones you took.
  21. I drove by during Christmas time and saw a huge whole in the ground for the parking garage. Is anyone gonna drive by there and get some photos? They haven't started posting any construction photos on their site yet. Just wondering. If someone does that would be cool.
  22. Yeah, I'm glad we were able to keep Sherman. I was a little nervous he was going to get another head coaching job and leave us. So is he just going to be a Kubiaks puppet? What is the role of an offensive coordinator who's under Kubiak? Everyone talks about "Kubiaks" offense. Does the O-Coordinator just call plays or what? Anyone know?
  23. I think we could beat all three as well. But the Suns and Mavs are pretty dang good. I wouldn't be as worried about the Spurs, but the other two, yikes...tough
