  1. Maybe so...the Houston Development agenda states all information may not be accurate. The developer is calling it "Midtown" so, hopefully he's right.
  2. yep, that's it. But is that near Chenevert? I thought Chenevert was on the east side of downtown? 77007 is north of i-10 on the west side of downtown.
  3. Has anyone else heard rumors of them building one there? The pazookis or whatever they're called are gooood.
  4. Anyone know about this? Being developed by http://www.oxberrygroup.com/index.html
  5. I saw on a construction search/bid engine with Regent Square phase II listed for groundbreaking of February 2011. It was reported on January 2010. I did not see anything about Phase I.
  6. you need a membership to read it? I guess I have a username and password with them, but I read it before i signed in. sorry about that. I think it's free to sign up anyway. I don't think Dubai is a major player in oil anyway, could be wrong. But from what I understand, it's emirates neighbor, Abu Dhabi a few miles away is the major oil city, not Dubai.
  7. http://search.sys-con.com/node/1338614 Is this factual? And I just noticed the redid their website. It looks much nicer. http://www.oneparkplacehouston.com/
  8. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/64f39d9e-360e-11df-aa43-00144feabdc0.html just pasting the link b/c of this:
  9. I was kind of thinking something like that, and I think that explains all the trees sticking up out of the water. I am not familiar with the other locations like Bedias Creek and Lone Star Lake. Are those in hilly areas? And I guess this fact means a pleasure reservoir like Lake Conroe will not be made again in the Houston area.
  10. For my own sake: Def. of an impounded reservoir - "Upland reservoirs are commonly known as impounding reservoirs since they are built across river valleys." http://www.euwfd.com/html/lakes_and_reservoirs.html Any idea why they decided to make Lake Conroe deeper than normal? It seems like making it more recreationally diverse would benefit the area, making it a destination. But maybe it's just way too expensive, too? Also, here are some interesting facts: Construction: Started January , 1970 - completed January 1973 Cost: $30,000,000 Filled: October 31, 1973 Normal Pool: Elevation 201.00 feet above mean sea level Surface Area: 22,000 acres (5,000 acres in Sam Houston National Forest) Capacity: 430,260 acre feet (140,200,651,000 gallons) Average Depth: 20.5 feet Evaporation: Average annual - 48 inches (71 million gallons per day). Summer (115 million gallons per day). Winter (30 million gallons per day). Maximum (180 million gallons per day). http://lakeconroe.com/about_lake_conroe.cfm
  11. After I posted, I also found Addicks and Barkers reservoirs...should of thought of it from the get-go. But like Niche says, it seems it's only use is really for fishing. http://www.swg.usace.army.mil/Addicks/
  12. I don't know much about the west side of town, does the Brazos River have a major reservoir? How about giving the west siders some water recreational activity? http://www.ultimatewoodlands.com/2010/03/group-seeks-lake-conroe-impact-study
  13. Oh, wow...nice! The other day when the website was posted, none of the links were working.
  14. I think it was TimnWendy that reported the email from the developer that said they were letting the church borrow their signs, but I don't see anything reported that a church is actually being built there. Is there a church close by?
  15. Thanks Coaster! I always love me some good EarthQuest news! The resort looks sweet. Also, I wonder if the Earth Walk is supposed to be like CityWalk?
  16. Of course, our local economists could have already told us this was true, but I found it interesting none the less. http://www.bisnow.com/houston_commercial_real_estate_news_story.php?p=7777
  17. It seems Jeddah is about the same size of Houston. What do yall think will be the tallest building in 25, 50 years? Do engineers have a limit?
  18. I know I should just wait for it to top out, but it's amazing how from certain angles, this building just doesn't look as tall as it actually is. The second picture was a great view.
  19. It may not be a tall building, but my guess is that high speed is defined more by the elevators and the system itself rather than the height of the building. Hey, I'm sure people always want elevators that are faster than slower. Just think about it when you're in a slow one at a hotel or something.
  20. Wow, chase tower is...tall. Also, you know Houston's gotta a decently tall skyline when almost 50 stories doesn't seem tall enough.
  21. not that it matters, but why was the light red for the right lane that was next to the train? bigger video: http://www.chron.com/disp/video.mpl/media/20870915?autoplay I feel sorry for the bus driver...seems weird why she did not notice the light was red. Guess she had her mind on other things.
