  1. Oh, and i thought that Pasadena was supposed to be in the coastal prairies and bay subsection, i know its mostly all Pearland but , i know for sure that the the second largest city in the Houston Area isn't a Houston Neighborhood.
  2. City Council actually talked about this since years past but i guess its finally going through....
  3. Im pretty sure that they're counting all the buildings with a houston,tx adress . Downtown is just our most concentrated area of office buildings so that is used as the main picture.
  4. I think it would have a stronger effect if the light wasnt in the shot
  5. Well if not another theme park, this the next best thing, but this just adds to the list of the already many business districts of Houston. If built, of course....
  6. I liked Cullen State University but, i picked these 3: Texas Gulf Coast State University- huge regional ties Gulf Coast State University-its the best one imo, makes a name for it self yet has a minute regional tie University of Southeast Texas-moderate regional ties
  7. You have to consider that they're moving locations, now i'm not all sure about leasing contracts but i'm sure that's one of the reason why the wont move until the end of 2009. Maybe they're contract in 2HC requires them to stay a little longer.
  8. nice, all developments that are in construction in downtown are above street level
  9. Like i said no one will win any argument about suburbs vs inner city when a proper term AND examples are agreed upon EVERYBODY
  10. I hope you didn't take my examples seriously. Sorry for misleading you. I was hypothetically speaking.
  11. First of all, i think we can all agree that apartments are meant to be exactly the same. I would never expect to live an apartment where every unit is different on the outside, maybe on the inside but even so not every single one. Theres a difference between apts. and houses. And its ok if it doesnt bother you, because it bothers me and i respect your opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs and i just happen to post mine here. Because this thread is about the disdain towards the suburbs. BUT the only way anyone on here will agree to the reason why one would hate the burbs and why one would like them will be if we use the same examples. For example, I can say that Fort Bend County has no diversity. and Someone can say alothough that may be true just go to Montgomery County for ethnic diversity. and thats the Great thing about living in the Houston Area, you have more than one option. No one can argue on here about this suburb being boring with its lame strip centers, because then someone will say that the ther suburb has a Modern mall that has all your favorite stores. And then theres the whole exurb dilemma. So wether your like me or someone else, you'll never win the Suburb/City argument, just because its in Houston, land of diversity and options. and with that, im out.
  12. The Suburbs are great for some people but not me. Why would anyone want to live in a house where the fifth house down is exactly the same? In some cases all the houses, unfortunately... No house is truly unique, you can try and for those of you who succeed ,praise to you. The majority of people living there are white, no offense. Some suburbs are diverse but they're aren't many. The burbs, to me are symbolic of a sameness, insipid bland , boring life. Sure the houses look good, crime isn't high, most of the time good schools, but where is the excitement?! Where is the mystery? Today ,there, is most likely alike as yesterday and tomorrow. And if you live there, good for you. Maybe that's just your lifestyle, and maybe you see it in a different light.
  13. I wasn't a lurker, i would be interested in a particular building in Houston, look it up and sometimes HAIF would pop up. I found it confusing at first. I would be looking for the most recent post but i would see that the that might be from years back. It took me a while to figure out that it went from oldest to newest in numerical order starting from 1. I would then go to the HAIF home page and find all these sub topics and countless threads and immediately signed up. I didn't feel like i need an introduction into HAIF i just dived in. And im younger than 20 years, and i didnt find a reason to feel intimidated by some users.
  14. It would be better to make it into a public square or plaza, imo.
  15. You should post this in the Continental Center Thread in the Downtown Sub-Forum Since some people are asking for a photo of its new lighting, though i dont know if some one has posted a picture of this lately... Either way nice shots around town...
  16. That's great news for Galveston. Hopefully it'll actually help them. are they paperback?not that it matters, just curious.
  17. Thanks for the pictures, Channel2 They're really great Actually, the picture looks better than the real thing
  18. According to the Downtown E-newsletter March 2009.i know we should be optimistic but considering this was supposed to open a couple days ago, im kind of mad. I could understand January or February but MARCH! oh well just my opinion. Heres what was in it:
  19. well obviously they wouldn't actually make it into the $ sign design, its just one of those things that the architects/people made up a and is just and urban legend that is fun to believe in
  20. one can also say that when people leave and turn back they realize what great of a city they live in and cant wait to get back...
  21. What if, i may be wrong, these are the same building , but are rendered from different views. Besides it is unlikely that they have two different designs, i mean unless its a contest there should only be one final design, and even if the architect made 2 designs he wouldnt go public about it. Seriously when was the last architect that asked our opinion about a project? But i may be wrong. Also the rendering with the glass part shows a concrete wall, and the rendering with the concrete(or what ever it is, im not an expert) shows glass. But , my theory on why the glass isn't portrayed in the same hue is that the 1st rendering is in the sunset..
