  1. I agree! i mean there are a lot of hot newscasters, but shes the only one who looks like shes heading "out" after the news, yet still has a professional tone/voice...
  2. well the pdf. was dated 2008, at the time where all of this was being thought of..... so no current updates for the project i assume?
  3. i agree to some extent, i mean yes, it would do good near Minute Maid Park, in the sense to extend it, but they've already got several projects on that. What do you think OPP,Disco Tower, & Embassy Suites are doing? They're EXTENDING the skyline. Also, it's in a great location, there haven't been any significant changes to our skyline district recently. Welcome to the 21st century, the world is modernizing and changing. Houston is modernizing and changing, and this is exactly what it needs, in that sense. I for one am glad to see a change in that part of downtown. Do you really want to drive to Houston and see the same thing every year. I for one am glad that this is happening. Can you imagine seeing downtown from this view, not to mention that its the most popular view, the ones that the world sees more often, and having it remain the same. But hey, at least our skyline got longer! ( I think not) Just my opinion, and intended with no hard feelings. So yes, its in a great location.
  4. Theres actually more green space, from this view, in front of the twin towers. members have posted renderings of this in previous posts.
  5. can somebody clarify its location, when they say adjacent, doesn't that mean it WILL be in downtown. but in previous posts it was said it won't be in downtown, but close by.
  6. and why should our elected officials be different from all the others?
  7. I agree, heres the pdf. for the Transit-News Journal http://www.ridemetro.org/AboutUs/Publicati...ournal-0609.pdf "METRO is ready to break ground on the North and Southeast Corridors, continue work on the East End Line and anticipating the construction of the University and Uptown corridors." "All the pieces are in place--Houston, we're ready to roll."
  8. On the Garage does anybody know if the "vines" on the garage are just an embellishment for this rendering.. or is are they really going to plant them on it. It would look really cool, and go with the whole "green" thing going on. From the picture that capture the garage i don't really see the space for this, so does anybody have any more garage pictures and or know if this is gonna happen. and the glass is awesome on Disco/Hess Tower!
  9. I like this one because once its completed it'll take your attention away from the building blocking it, cause boy , is it ugly. At least it'll block it from this viewpoint anyways.
  10. i just googled the 3rd picture " dilman block", then clicked on images and that was the 1st result. which said Geneva, NY (not saying that sheates didn't know it before, just how i found out )
  11. This might be the wrong place to post this, but it does relate to projects "going up". With the recent projects going up around Discovery Green in Downtown- One Park Place Discovery/Hess Tower Embassy Suites I started to wonder how would one prefer to see them going up- cluster of cranes- all of them going up at the same time sort of like the Texas Medical Center or one at a time- currently it seems as one project finishes up another one begins example OPP, then D/H Tower Right now, obviously Disco Tower isn't done, but its a lot closer to finishing then Embassy Suites. Would three projects going up make this side of Downtown Houston ( i know im excluding MainPlace) look like TMC, which i think would be cool, or does the timing of these projects seem ok. Because if all three started together that means the period of time that there's construction work in Downtown would be cut short vs. if they're all starting at different times, Houstonians would see cranes for a longer time. These projects signify change to downtown that we need, so maybe always having construction work is better than a lot of projects finishing up, because then we don't see cranes for another couple of years. What is your opinion- cluster of cranes or not?
  12. I think its possible to use mass transit & bike outside the loop (not sure about the beltway). See i live in the "commercial" area of North Pasadena, not the "industrial" or "residential". I live behind Wal-Mart on Main St. so everything i need is walking distance, but biking is faster. Everything is on or by Southmore Ave. like the library, city hall, police hq, post office, the mall and nearby stores/fast food places. So I bike to those places and walk to nearby Wal-Mart. And with the newly opened Pasadena Park& Ride which is on the Town Square Mall lot, I can ride to Downtown. So yes i bike and use mass transit to get to places. Living in this part of Pasadena makes everything a lot easier.
  13. just skimmed through the thread, but i can see the title says 20+ stories, do we know how high this will end up? apologize in advance if its been posted before.
  14. its too small to ever be the Houston of the Eastern Hemisphere, but i guess with those aspirations its more like Houston than we think
  15. unavailable on HAIF, but i clicked on it & it showed on flickr
  16. I havent been to the zoo in a while, since they prices went high. Ive been to herman park, where the 2 apartment buildings were visible, and they look nice in the zoo backdrop as well.
  17. a little off topic, but does buffalo bayou's name have anything to do with buffalos, and if not why did they choose that name? just curious, since in the corner i saw the BuffBayou Walk sign.
  18. Well, for one thing they're more noticeable as they catch our attention more than if they would be box buildings. and it works, doesn't it? They have become iconic for Galveston.
