  1. I think its been established that students leave their schools and universities, the good ones,to be specific, and then go find a job where the opportunity is, Texas. If we educate our students, and the opportunity is STILL in Texas, im sure they'll REMAIN in Texas. Sure, there would be students who leave the state just to place themselves in a different environment. But, compared to other places, there would more students staying. and isnt that what we want? the bright students staying... I for one, am a risk-taker.
  2. One problem that may come up, if there is competition for this high-speed rail, is the population/area being served. I can think of a lot of other corridors that this rail will better serve. All I'm saying is the people in the corridor ain't a lot, compared to others.... I mean "ALBUQUERQUE?EL PASO?"
  3. wow....-109...you should just quit and re-join... =p

  4. that's what i thought initially...thanks
  5. IN this CASE, some people seem to think A LOT...if the people in this thread seem to think it was photoshopped a little, we wouldn't be having this conversation...now would we?
  6. i'd just like to point out airbrushing is not photoshopping.... technically, yes, but when we use photoshop in this context i think we mean using almost every tool, whereas airbrushing would just be a slight alteration
  7. Does anybody have any reasonable estimates to when Houston might overtake Chicago?if at all? Chicago's population is declining, and Houston's isnt....so when could it happen?
  8. I dont really consider the Downtown Aquarium a theme park...an attraction nonetheless The closest thing to a theme park in Houston is the Kemah Boardwalk....it at least has a roller coaster Earth Quest seems like a resort, though....(would that mean higher prices??)
  9. I dont think Houston will overtake Chicago in the near future.... Chicago is too big.... Although it is a possibility as both are in the 2mill+ range for population.. BUT it would be great...
  10. Well there goes their target customer base, but i agree, as it is the only way to keep Victory Park from dying.....
  11. Well its a soccer-specific stadium in the US, and with these types of stadiums quality isn't as much as a priority... although newer MLS stadiums are reversing this trend.... besides its a nice, subtle design....
  12. Thanks, now i have a lot more options but keep 'em coming, the more options, the better... appreciate it a lot.
  13. I like downtown, but don't visit it enough..... I'm considering spending a day there, so that means buying food to eat, and since im likely to grab a bite more than once, I'm hoping some HAIF'ers can help me out on locating some CHEAP TO MODERATELY PRICED ESTABLISHMENTS So if anyone can point out fast-food joints, and eateries like bakeries or ice cream shops that would be appreciated(if any) Please no restaurants, unless it fits the price range....No More than $15 per person....though id like to pay $5-10 Ive been to Disco Green, and tried the Lakehouse Cafe(good burgers..) but id like to explore the whole area & Ive been to TheShopsatHC, but only have ordered from the fast food places like Subway and Chik-Fil-A If you'd like to recommend a place, i only ask 1.that you leave a description to what they offer(unless its a fast food place, cause everybody knows that) 2. its address, or location relative to the nearby landmarks ( next to MMP, for example) 3. hours of operation, if you know... 4. cost THANK YOU, REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE IT dont be afraid to point out fast food places as well, since thats what im most likely to get a meal from because the only fast food places i know of in downtown are the ones in The Shops....., but i know theres more
  14. it would've been a nice alternative, but the original is better
  15. Good description of the Woodlands, but it seems that if your being theWlaws C&VB representative, you shouldn't post travel times to other attractions that are not in your city/county. There are a ton of other MPC that have shorter commute and travel times. The Woodlands has almost everything going for it except if you want to get from there, to Downtown, Galveston, etc, it's going to be a long long time. Commute times are often at the [hour+] range from downtown. If your comfortable being in your car, the Woodlands is great, but there a ton of other cities to look at....
  16. im not exactly sure of your intent to post these pics.... is this a different plan for the tower by another architect?
  17. Trust me, when you(just an example) or somebody else takes their kid here w/o telling them what it really is, as puma mentioned, their going to be the Debby Downers. Just imagine, "Let's go to the theme park kids!" , and then they find out there's no wooden roller coasters, they are going to be disappointed.
  18. Tomball, i'm guessing "GRAND TEXAS" As up said, its totally different: a Western Theme Park Heres the thread:http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/index.php?showtopic=21047&pid=332163&st=0entry332163
  19. i think they mean that your free to roam around the theme park, but most, if not all, activities will require charges.... Great, just what we need, a park designed for people who want to see the biggest Texas stereotype of all... Though, if this does end up being a tourist attraction, it will be good for the tourists who come to the Houston Metro and want the traditional Texas stereotype.
  20. sorry for yanking your chain, i was just trying to liven up the thread for potential customers for you....
