  1. Thanks for the pics. Didn't go this year ... now I wish I did. I loved that pic of the Hyatt nestled between the skyscrapers; but a great job.
  2. Great job. And you were up, down and all around in two hours! Your pics have style. I love the Texaco Bldg. and can't wait until somebody renovates that beautiful building into something. It is too beautiful to be empty.
  3. And on another thread we were discussing cranes and my concern was why they don't fall. Anyhow, Red and a few other HAIFers enlightened me about cranes. But ... whoa ... paper said it was the mud and the thing started to sink and toppled. Crane Operator positions open.
  4. Awesome!! Thanks for sharing. Zooper job
  5. Parkside looks awesome in that rendering. Hope it turns out like the picture.
  6. We have been hiring a lot of Californians who have relocated to Houston over the past few years. They are here because it is too expensive to own a home out there. I am sure DFW has experienced this same phenomena. California's loss is Texas' gain.
  7. 2727 Kirby Here is the full story from HBJ. Interesting reading. Never underestimate the power of the wife.
  8. R O C K E T S Home court. We lead 3-2 with 2 to go.... home court..... yeah baby!!!
  9. I hope so. I think Brady will become a real good QB. Cleveland will probably be successful with Quinn.
  10. woolie.... lots of us cannot afford these mega expensive highrises. However, it is great to live in a city where we have rich, not so rich but affluent, mid income and, unfortunately, lower income families. I will never live there, but will enjoy seeing 2727 from where I am in the city. Yeah, can you imagine the expense of a million dollar palace? I really can't, but I am blessed to have my 1800 sq ft "palace" and it belongs to me. So, let's build a 90 story highrise that we can see for miles... but not have to worry about the price.
  11. I will say this ... if it happens, Dallasbois won't let us forget it. That would be OK if it turns out like the rendering ... nice.
  12. Good. Work your show!!! Work it..... Work it.... 15 floors .... ohhhhhhh ... gotta work for Dallas..... cause it won't get press down here. Bookmark this!
  13. Wow... a fifteen story "skyscraper" .... Houston, we gotta start buildin' But it has an H on the front and red, white and blue lights. Wheeeeee...... Emporis online has Houston with 825 buildings to Dallas' 497 .... ouch .... maybe Houston is waaaaayyyyy bigger than Dallas... huh?
  14. And this was a pleasant surprise on that beautiful, sunny day. Next to the pond at the bottom of the hill in Sam Houston Park, we discovered a gaggle. http://img442.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000075ki9.jpg
  15. Yeah, the Ten Ten ... I loved that food court. But, of course, business must trump eating.
  16. .... but we all knew this anyhow. We're 6th best in the states. Link
  17. Yeah, Hizzy, I suppose the Orions were just way too much $$$ when so many other residential highrises are going up. It would have been nice. I think this one will fly because it is really nice and in the right location. I wondered years ago if that great piece of real estate would ever be developed and now, perhaps, we have liftoff.
  18. Sweet! That's the second highrise over there. It is beginning to look like Houston has yet another skyline with AIG's 40 story tower, American General, Royalton and the new 25 story luxury condo tower. The location is about as good as it gets.
  19. Joey has been around for a long time .... much too long. I hope they (OK not hang him) but give him the pink slip forever. Mr. Duncan is a class act undeserving of this prejudiced treatment. I am a Rockets fan, but love the Spurs too. Long live Tim
  20. umm... were there windows? Looks like a collection of boxes stacked vertically.
  21. Exactly. There are many posters on this board who misspell words and use gramatically challenged sentences, but rarely do we not understand the post. Good post sttombiz.
  22. Downtown reminds me of the 80's. You will see lines of construction workers now in the shops and deli's. I haven't seen this much activity since the "boom" times. Add to all this a couple of new office towers and downtown is boom revisited.
