  1. Too bad; the twin towers are cool. So just another midrise ... one of a thousand in Houston. The only reason it made it to HBJ is because of the "River Oaks" location I presume.
  2. Wow. Esperson you reached back and I felt young again. Thanks to all of you HAIFers who have given us a "blast from the past" that we remember so well. The Loading Dock. Boy, was I loaded when I was at the Dock. I love H-town. Always have and always will. So many fun times I've had in this city and the people are totally the best. Happy New Year All!
  3. Of course he will go for the money and join the NFL. Come on.... how many people wouldn't take millions of bucks immediately rather than stay in school????? Not many. Money makes people crazy. I wish I had that problem.
  4. Red, you are so on the money with your posts re: Irving Cowchips. T.O. drops, talks, and does not walk the walk. Besides, how could Dallas hire an idiot who, as an Eagle, dis-respected their Star at Dallas' beloved hole in the roof stadium?? To me, it was a signal: don't recruit this a-hole. But they did. > But on a happy evening, I loved tonight's game. It was so Dallas. Git it up to f**k it up. From Dallas Morning News: "Inches and seconds away from their first playoff win since 1996, the Cowboys saw their season end in bizarre fashion when Tony Romo dropped a perfect snap on a 19-yard field goal attempt with 1:14 to play, giving the Seahawks an improbable 21-20 win." No more reeling 'boyz. Stick a fork in 'em - they are done. I think the Texans are going to be much improved next year if they learn to draft (selecting players that will perform) unlike the first 5 years of pretending to know how to draft. At any rate, just 2 cents from hfella who doesn't have much sense. Good luck to Boyz and Texans in 2007. We are going to need it!
  5. Yeah, he's the one. Of course, if the Texans get a chance to draft Russell, they'll probably go for a quarterback from Fresno State.
  6. Having read that article a couple of times, I noted that the first paragraph said HP "was scheduled for groundbreaking in November." It also indicated that another entity was to build the two condo towers which I thought were taken out of the HP project altogether. Boy this gets confusing.
  7. I'm eager, Trae, to watch LSU vs ND in the sweet, sweet Sugar Bowl. I know JaMarcus Russel is awfully darn tough in a Vince Young kind of way; I am pretty sure he's jumping to the NFL. Troy Smith is awesome and will be a gamer too. I just hope we don't waste our 1st round draft pick on a nobody.
  8. And just when I think the Texans might have an 8-8 season, see .500 for the first time, you all go and post a killer schedule. But seriously, a tough schedule is what makes a playoff team. Win a few of those bad boys and who knows ... we might just get to that 8-8 mark. I'm pretty sure we are going to be much improved next year - just do not know who'll be behind the center.
  9. From the top ramp at Reliant on Sunday, I counted six construction cranes in TMC area. I couldn't determine whether one or two of those belonged to Mosaic, but is a lot of construction down there.
  10. We won't get a "rematch" .... and that's good because as a Texans' fan, I believe Dallas (as bad as they have been of late) would put it on us. Gotta concentrate on 2007. Whew. A new QB? How about that fella that plays for UH who can run, throw and git 'r dun??? At any rate, the Texans are 6-10 as compared to 2-14. The Pokes are just another wild card in the weak NFC. One day Houston will be in the Super Bowl. One day .... I hope I have enough days left in my life.
  11. Speaking of red ... the Red Room. Back in the summer of 1972 when I first moved to H-town, we would go to Galveston, get all tanned, come home, go to dinner and go over to the Red Room to see Tiffany Jones, Daschell, Jerry Van Over and Kitty Key. Now you all know how dated this is, but at that age it was a blast. Didn't have a problem getting up and going to work very early on Monday morning either. Couldn't do it now.
  12. Da Bears. Da Pats. Hey, that would be a very cool Super Bowl. Could happen. Yeah, it could happen. But let's not leave New Orleans out of the picture. Now that would be cool. Happy Holidays HAIFers!
  13. This parking garage is interesting. Because at the time, Pennzoil Tower was not close to being nearly 90 per cent leased. I guess a little planning goes a long way because Pennzoil Tower is almost totally leased at this writing. I would be interested in seeing how they are going to make a parking garage pretty. Haven't seen any renderings on this one. Tunnel connected will be great though.
  14. DJ V: you think Indy can get there? I mean, the Texans beat 'em. Can the Colts make it through a playoff run? Philly, I think, has a good chance as the NFC is weak and weaker. But the AFC has some teams that can kick ass.... the Texans are not one of them. But if Indy vs. Philly happens, I'll root for Indy.
  15. Lots of work to be done with Carr. But get Mr. Carr some help. We HAVE to HAVE O-LINE. Bottom line O-Line. Anyhow, I enjoyed Philly whipping Dallass today. Guess I just don't like the Pokes. > > Faggins: gotta go.
  16. I enjoy the changing colors. Any building can have green neon or white lights that never change, but now our new buildings reflect lighting which changes hues in a subtle and cool, slow display.
  17. lockmat, I think the future is really bright for DT Houston. I really believe you would be the type of person (from your post) that would enjoy downtown's amenities and quality of life. Hurry back. We need more downtowners.
  18. I was a bit surprised with that deaf in left ear thing. But, perhaps, it cuts down on the enemy's crowd noise. I love the Rockets. I just don't know about T-Mac. I wish him well, but injuries have been fatal to Houston teams in the past. And at 27 years of age. Did I say 27? Eh???
  19. I think yes, the status of living at 2727 Kirby will sell like the Huntingdon did back in its heyday. As for resale, at those prices, well.... it probably is insignificant. I was always afraid of condo's, but, of course, mine would have been upper middle income price ranges. These are super income price ranges. Thanks jd for your input on this and the others who have responded as well. The only way to learn about what is happening is a real discussion with people who know what they are doing. I believe you do. We'll have to wait and see if this turns out to be as great as it sounds. I hope so. Atlas, 250 per sq ft? Whoa. In the Chron's real estate section, 2727 Kirby's ad clearly states "under construction"
  20. Thanks Niche and jd for your posts. My question is, with this type of thinking, what are the people who are doing the financing and putting their money on the line thinking? Why pursue something that might be nothing more than a tax write-off or bankrupt type situation? Surely Mosaic and 2727 developers and financiers did some homework.
  21. Fountain getting high maintenance. Hotel Warwick getting new name and coolness: ZaZa. I think all will be well when finished.
  22. You may be right. But ... it seems the financing is in place and construction on 2727 is in the beginning stages. Guess we'll wait and see. Endeavor, on the other hand, has sold far more condos than predicted and will be building more highrises; I guess it is all about the lake and bay in this region of the metro. But with Mosaic, I think, given the future market, that buying a couple of the low-priced units would pay off handsomely down the road (and I don't mean 10 years ... much sooner). Thanks for your posts; educated and experienced people know far more than I do.
  23. First, Toolman, I am sorry that I questioned your integrity. Second, thanks, hokie. I was assuming the entrance to Rocbar was downstairs so goes the construction. Mosaic is that another club/restaurant under construction? Is there any entrance to rocbar other than those steel steps under the canopy? An elevator or sumpin???? Can you imagine after ten drinks walking down??? Whoa....
  24. What? Rocbar is under construction. It isn't even open yet. I was at Hard Rock yesterday and construction workers everywhere; it doesn't look like it will be ready for a couple of months.
  25. goodfella, please call VIP Systems to tell them that they lost their high-tech installation contract at 2727 Kirby. I don't think they know this yet. And, drive over and see the progress made on Mosaic's Hermann Park highrises.
