  1. You bet. And people who travel to our offices worldwide love Pennzoil... it is quite unique. Besides, it is cool.
  2. But on a sweeter note ... BLVD Place and Houston Pavilions are both happening in Houston. Uptown & Downtown. That's not to mention the dozen(s) of other cool urban villages that are on the drawing board. We can't lose.
  3. HP is a great project. I believe it will produce coolness in Downtown H-town. Go for the GOLD!!!!!
  4. I don't know about how tall we are, but Houston's big, getting bigger and Turnberry is a great addition to Uptown. So, One Park Tower is rising downtown, 2727 Kirby in River Oaks is going to be gorgeous, Mosaic is almost ready to top out its first tower, Endeavor on Clear Lake is probably topped out by now . . . yeah, this sleeping giant is awake and ready to rumble. Woo hoo.
  5. 30 story bldg. ... Downtown requires 60+ 30 floors... ha ha ha
  6. Well, HAIFers, I can't imagine Houston going for long without a new office tower of 50+ floors. If you work downtown as I do, you immediately notice the lack of parking, the buildings are totally leased out and while Class A space is available, it is in smaller increments, not huge blocks any more. That is a good thing that I believe will bring a brand new, totally desirable 21st century tower that law firms and corporations will be licking their chops to move into. I believe downtown is ready for 2 or 3 50-80 story buildings to move into the 21st century. Let's think back a few years ... say 1997 ... now I view downtown Houston as progressive, getting better and ready to roll.
  7. Since HP is near the ballparks, and will have lots of restaurants and the House of Blues, I can't imagine that it can only be a success. People in Houston eat out more than in any other city in the U.S. That said, we will have great choices. Hey, you and your buddies who work downtown can go to Lucky Strike after work and have a few brews and bowl and bond. It sounds like HP is going to liven up downtown. If you build it, they will come.
  8. Looks like you are kind of important here... look forward to your pics and posts.
  9. A big hotel in the Dome would be making lots of money right now: Rodeo Houston. There simply isn't a nice hotel in that area at all. I am sure OTC would fill that hotel as well ... not to mention lots of other attractions, including the NFL, to offer a "nice" and interesting place to stay down there. Besides, it is on MetroRail. I think this one will happen.
  10. I think it will be beautiful complimenting Transco. Uptown has about 5 highrise projects on the drawing boards not including the Cosmopolitan already under construction.
  11. The Houston Press does know how to entertain. The Chron could get some pointers from HP.
  12. Sorry, Gary, for not providing the link, but as you see it was only a sniglet re: two 35 story highrises on the drawing board (nuttin' more). Guess we'll have to put out feelers for the scoop for this new project.
  13. Lookin' for links to this .... I was wondering if that is the area where the "42 story" skyrise was going to be built, but rather, did they opt for two 35s or if the 42 is still going to be built with the twins at another Post Oak Boulevard location. We need INFORMATION on this one. H e l p . . . .......
  14. HBJ reports that a new set of twins are in the works for Uptown Houston. We have the 40-story Four Leaf Towers; but in the works now is a set of twins 35 stories tall. Any of you guys have renderings? This will definitely impact Uptown Houston's already cool skyline. I wanna see ......
  15. TxDOT is always a decade or two behind in this thing. I am surprised Ms. Gbur still has a job. But, in all fairness, Houston grows and grows and grows and we simply can't keep up with the madness. It is much better than the opposite where cities like Philly dropped from 2 mil to 1 mil in several decades. Guess we'll just get on the freeway for better or for worse.
  16. Downtown Houston Clubs - feel free to open at 7 a.m. and stay until the out-dated Texas alcohol laws close you down. I have always felt that New Orleans was the only city in the USA that got it right re: its bars and clubs.
  17. CityCentre As we were speaking, Nancy Sarnoff has an article in today's Chron. Enjoy. Houston has so much building going on that it is hard to keep up with all the new stuff. Over at the old Allen House is an urban center, CityCentre, Mosaic, 2727 Kirby, the Endeavor highrises ... we haven't even begun to name all the action. houstonfella is happy.
  18. Umm... not to interrupt this thread ... but Diagnostic (having to move to Binz St.) had to file Chapter 11 to stay in business. I think Methodist giving them the boot caused Diagnostic the financial problems. But I like Diagnostic so much better over at Park Plaza (on the Red Line and easy access from downtown). Cool, though, that TMC is building and building and building.... Energy Corridor is building and building and building.... downtown is building and getting ready to start some real building because our vacancy rate is 12.5% overall and 10% for the top-notch space.
  19. Thanks 2112. Houston 19514 is a trooper. 19514 has an optimistic outlook and knows how real estate deals work. Time is always on your side in these matters. Thank you, 19514, for your posts. I always read what you have to say. Meanwhile, R I S E PAVILIONS!!!!! P.S. Ricco, you mentioned when Houston Center was built ... yeah, there was a lot of ifs and buts and actually changes made. Houston Center was going to be a little larger and contain something like the Pavilions. It actually got built with the Park Shops (which was a shot in the arm for that part of town), but it looks like now we will have it all -- a 500 ft tall highrise on Discovery Green and the condos in the old Texaco building AND the Pavilions.
  20. Nancy Sarnoff's article did mention that the old Texaco Building will be renovated into about 400 loft-style condos (apartments) ... which would, with One Park Tower, add nearly 800 new residences downtown. It is a good thing. The old Texaco Building is really cool. I like the arches and ornate touches. Yay, downtown.
  21. I totally disagree here. This one, WHILE MICKEY, will get done. Gosh, I'd hate to eat crow, but feel strongly that Houston is ready for another Kirby zillionaire palace. There is money on the Bayou.
  22. Well, guys, I have an "outside" office but do not make half a million bucks a year. Oh, well, cry me a river, boyz.... y'all will work inside and I'll see the rain pecking on my windows and make so much less.
  23. Yeah, you would think. Of that 12.5%, a lot of the 5 m sq ft are Class B and C office spaces, which are totally unacceptable for big time law firms and energy giants. If four towers were built since 2000 with the vacancy rate at over 20 per cent, then surely we can get a few really tall ones in the not too distant future.
