  1. After today, I don't think we will be anything other than mediocre. Atlanta was 0-3. We gave them zillions of yards in penalties. Houston played with no pride or winning attitude. It's the same old thing with the Texans. Why is it the Texans get hurt by everyone on the team but other teams go for months without that problem? I am totally discouraged and don't think we will pull out of an "expansion team" mode. I hope the Texans prove me wrong. I have season tickets that beg for loving and I, too, beg to be loved by the non-Texans world, but this kind of play doesn't win respect from anybody in the NFL.
  2. Win against Atlanta and we are 3-1. Then we get well and become really, really good. I love the Texans and think we are capable of a winning season, finally.
  3. New towers: downtown, uptown, Texas Med Ctr, Galveston Bay, Gulf of Mexico highrises.... Houston's alive and well.
  4. Yeah, me too. I am white. I am not black or red or yellow or brown. Can't we not be white? Christ, with this summer in Sept. I should be real brown. Caliente.....
  5. Texas Monthly has a two-page ad for Turnberry. It seems they have revved up the engines to sell these palaces. It seems the high dollar highrise condos are selling well. It is the low end that is having difficulty any more. There are so many choices now for high end homes. And more to come.
  6. I think Discovery Green will be very populated and, therefore, the homeless will not be a problem. Usually the homeless tend to dwell in quieter, less populated parks and areas. Houston is not alone in homelessness. All the major cities have to cope with the homeless. I am just sorry to see that our government doesn't do a lot more to get these people help and more shelters for them. Back on the subject, doesn't this remind us of the boom times? It has been years since downtown has had this type of construction activity. I can't wait to see what's next .... a park that isn't a park yet already has developers licking their chops.
  7. According to HBJ, an aloft hotel will be built near the Galleria. aloft HBJ
  8. I totally agree with the new theme. The old Texas theme doesn't fit Space City.
  9. It appears this will be the night view (from Chron link above). FINALLY... renderings of the 630 ft tall tower. This will replace San Felipe Tower as the city's 15th tallest. 2010 will be here before you know it.
  10. You are so right in that thinking..... but I'll never know because I'm a middle class houstonfella. I do enjoy living in a city that has plenty. Wretched excesses .... or something like that. Fortunately, all of us HAIFers live quite comfortably without the excess. This is an exciting time for Houston, tho. Build those highrises. More..... more.....
  11. Here's the complete HBJ article. Mosaic is an example of doing things right and location, location, location. HBJ Full Story
  12. Articles in the Chron and HJB regarding Turnberry. Chronicle states Turnberry wants tower completed by Dec. 2009. Here's the HBJ link. Turnberry
  13. I hope we see the renderings in a couple of weeks. The waiting is the hard part.
  14. The Four Seasons downtown has the condo/hotel thing going. I definitely believe downtown Houston is ready for another upscale hotel/condo project. Perhaps we'll see a couple of new downtown "five-star" hotels in the next decade.
  15. Found this blurb in the HBJ. Who's got the skinny? Luxury Hotel Additional downtown optimism in the Chron. Bureau
  16. ... and more good news: Microsoft Corp. partners will be in Houston for the 2008 annual meeting/conference. There's about 7,600 of those booking 50,000 room nites. HBJ reports.
  17. Is this the one across from Hyatt? Or is there another former Sheraton downtown? Downtown Hotel
  18. Hines47HBJ Full Link This is the link to HBJ's article on Hines' new 47 story skyscraper. Hopefully this will inform to some degree, but no renderings still.
  19. I like the balconies built within the structure as well. Cosmo is really a cool building. Now, if I could afford one of those units .... nah, I'll just watch and enjoy.
  20. It appears financing to the tune of $500m for this project is happening. Financing
