  1. looks like it will be called The Dogwood Midtown. they have one in Austin... the Dogwood Houston facebook page looks promising http://www.facebook.com/thedogwoodhouston http://www.thedogwoodaustin.com/
  2. Fairgrounds Addition Block 39 Partial Replat No 1 Anyone have any information? I think the current building is 2907 Louisiana Street. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=530l4633l0l4727l21l21l0l0l0l0l234l2057l14.5.1l20l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1440&bih=734&wrapid=tlif133018930011510&q=2907+louisiana+houston&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x8640bf695edeb3bb:0x30ab04c1daaa4552,2907+Louisiana+St,+Houston,+TX+77006&gl=us&ei=-RNJT9PiEMXMsQKsu_HqCA&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CCMQ8gEwAA
  3. i heard there was a lot of opposition regarding phase IV, not sure from who or why. The last variance request scheduled for presentation on Feb16th was pulled from the agenda and i haven't heard anything since. Anyone have any information?
  4. Post Properties Says It’s Ready To Build Those Richmond Ave Apartments
  5. props to Nole for first posting this, but after talking to the developer, i think this deserves it's own thread All the parking will be in the back (42 spaces), the development will have the same building line as Post Midtown, and the 2 story section features a patio on top with a view of the skyline. Nice.
  6. update, ADT should be out by March 15th, construction should start in April... it will be typical to the other shopping centers in Midtown. There will be some painted facade that back up to McGowen but the entrances will be facing South as previously stated along with the parking. He said there will be side, sidewalk entrances.
  7. i was talking about the greyhound station. ya, it won't shoo any vagrants but for now the station is here to stay and it looks hideous. not sure what the options are to fix that.
  8. i saw these on a bunch of balconies in bogota
  9. someone should probably post a better picture, but it looks good so far, at least we have 2 stories
  10. Someone on this forum once suggested beautifying the area with a new landscape plan for the station. I think this is a really good idea. It is a somewhat inexpensive way to change the aesthetics of the area, and if the station does move evenutally, it's not like a ton of money was poured into the upgrade. I will present this idea to the midtown board. it will not do away with the crime, which is the main issue, but i think it will help create a better ambiance for the area.
  11. ya i'm going for number 1, i'll vote for it
  12. Looks like they are calling it 3101 Smith Site and it is in the proposed section http://www.smartapartmentdata.com/share/Reports/Houston_Construction.pdf
  13. http://houston.cultu...idtown-houston/ We’ve been waiting for a long time for a great urban project to take shape along the Main Street rail line, but with the Independent Arts Collaborative’s (IAC) announcement that it is going to build its long-awaited space at 3400 Main (near the Ensemble/HCC rail stop), the wait is finally over. Or at least it will be by 2015, when the complex is scheduled to open. As Tyler Rudick reported, the 85,000-square-foot complex will include four or five small performance spaces, a 400-seat theater, exhibition space, classrooms, and office space. Significant neighborhood development The IAC complex is sure to inspire, or at least accompany, significant neighborhood development. Developer Bob Schultz, co-owner of the Continental Club and of the colorful boutiques that are the Continental’s neighbors, says he’s planning extensive further developments in the blocks just south of IAC. He’s planning to build housing, a parking garage, and more unique retail. A hotel is also on the drawing board. Schultz told me, “The hope is that we’ll have a 24/7 city (in the area).” And just blocks away, HCC Central Campus has already begun a very exciting redevelopment of its historic campus, one that will mend and strengthen the area’s badly torn urban fabric.
  14. ya, i also noticed the parking lots to the east of the campus (and in front of Luigi's Pizza) are being redone as well, i'm assuming they will include some new sidewalks too.
  15. it was sent to me via e-mail, i called TBG i'm thinking about going to the next public hearing in support of this project.

  18. ok this is the deal. the current building will be replaced. the new shopping center will back up to McGowen (back of building will be against McGowen, front will be facing south) with parking in front. They said that it will still be pedestrian freindly and that they are working with Midtown Management District (don't know what that entails). The building will be 14,500 sq feet. They currently have 2 restaurants (2500 sq feet each) that will be anchoring on either side, other tenants are also already lined up. They have about 4,000 sq feet available lease space as of now. Construction will start in March. Building should be up by August. They plan to have tenants in by end of 2012.
