  13. Today I had some trouble downtown. I took some clients to the Rockets game tonight which was excellent. Afterwards, we attempted to find a place to get drinks and a good meal at about 10pm downtown. Everything was either closed or closing except pubs that sell bar food. Ok no problem, I'll go somewhere else. One of the guys suggests sushi so I try and find a sushi place. I searched on my phone and called about 5 different sushi places, most were already closed, or closing by 10:30. The only one that stayed open till midnight was Ra. So we go to Ra, and order immediately because the kitchen closes at 11pm. Sushi is badass and the atmposhpere is good. The only thing that kind of sucked here was not that Downtown was closing early, I expected that. However, I didn't expect it to be so hard to find a sushi place open past 10pm on Monday night in Houston. I always thought of Houston as a pretty a busy city, even late in the evenings...

Central Square Plaza is uniquely located at the entrance to Midtown Houston and has a fabulous view of Downtown Houston. Both the Midtown and Downtown Houston are experiencing a renaissance creating a strong demand for residential units. This has led to the creation of several new developments and the conversion of existing structures that had not previously been utilized as residential property. We believe that Central Square Plaza is uniquely situated for such conversion. The Numbers: ARV: $62,500,000 Repairs: $26,384,112Asking Price: $12,000,000Bottom Line: Great repositioning opportunity with $20M or more of profit potential!

  20. Hey Guys, What do you think about this? Apparently Houston is setting up a Downtown New Year's Eve party that we haven't seen before and the Art Cars will have a big role... "Make room New York City. Move over Paris. Houston is poised to launch a New Year's Eve celebration certain to put this city on the map of year-end countdowns. At least that's the plan of the city's Downtown District. Gloworama, the inaugural illuminated Art Car parade that lit up the George R. Brown Convention Center and Avenidas de las Americas last November, has morfed into a major New Year's Eve celebration of light, blazing art cars, music and sophisticated outdoor partying that will spread across Discovery Green. Highlight will be the midnight countdown with the "Big Glow" beginning at 11:30 p.m. The Downtown District and the Convention & Entertainment Facilities Department have planned a stunning 3D light show and a fireworks display at the convention center that will escort Houstonians into 2011. The party action will begin at 7 p.m. with ice skating demonstrations on the ICE at Discovery Green, live music on the Anheuser Busch Stage, performances by America's Got Talent's ArcAttack and more. At 9:30, the art cars, light up like Christmas, and the accompanying illuminated bicycles, uncycles, buses, at least one hearse, a few incarnations of Santa and whatever else the zany art car artists can fathom start rolling. If viewing it all from Discovery Green or along the street isn't your thing, a limited number of VIP tickets are available for the pre-Glow party at the George R. Brown. The tariff is $150 per person for access to some of the best views available for watching the parade and the light show, plus food and drink. Insiders have already begun booking rooms at the Hilton Americas-Houston for a front-row view of the festivities. Those living in One Park Place, the luxury high-rise overlooking Discovery Green, will also have premium sight lines." http://www.culturema...-new-years-eve/
  21. This is great news. I have to say there has been a lot going in Midtown... Many places since last year have closed and many places (better IMO) have opened up in their place - CityPlace is making a huge difference in density (and adding much needed sidewalks at Bagby and McGowen). - New retail opened up next to Coffee Groundz and there is work going on in the other empty space next to Coffee Groundz (maybe more retail) - Barcadia next to Reef is excellent, nice outdoor seating - New Martini Bar going in on West Gray under Post Midtown, which is across from the new Cafe Layal - Farrago's started putting seating outside and it is has been filling up (they may do this every year at this time of the year but not sure) - Cheerz has been doing very well and is just a lot better than open city was -Deco was replaced by FWD (or something of the sort) - New Yogurt place opened up next to the sushi place under 24 hour fitness - Ruby Tequila's is always going strong and is farily new... ALSO, west gray towards taft has been opening up some new places as well (and remodeling) - Junction and another BBQ place that is more on the way to bagby opened up too - Hopefully west gray from bagby to taft (and i guess montrose) continues to densify fairly quickly and help out the midtown area Oh snap, not to mention the Shops at Main, loving this area.
