1. We need the surrounding neighborhoods to interact more seamlessly with downtown and a good start is setting up an easy way for people to get to the trains...
2. http://www.loopnet.com/xNet/MainSite/Listing/Profile/Profile.aspx?LID=15796856 Last Verified 5/26/2010 Listing ID 15796856 Space Available: 165,000 SFRental Rate: $26 /SF/Year
Space Type: Office Building
Min. Divisible: 15,000 SF
Max. Contiguous: 165,000 SF
Lease Type: NNN
Date Available: Jun 2011 Very interesting... maybe this is a good sign... says last verified May 26, 2010 and date available June 2011... I wonder if this is scheduled to go ahead with or without a certain percentage of pre-leasing..
3. You can't let the homeless rule our lives... we've got to get away with this car-centric BS all the time... we need to venture out and take some steps to usable public transportation. Although washington has a better night life, i feel like midtown is still the best place to try and extend that walkability of our city outside of downtown. If the homeless use it, whatever, we need to get people to the trains and make this city more walkable. Although you can get to the train by walking a little ways almost anywhere in midtown, girls with high heels will not be willing to make the 15 min walk to take the train to go downtown from midtown on a friday or saturday night. i've experienced this.
4. I agree, trolleys will definitely be a good idea once all the lines are completed, but i still think they can be useful for midtown before that is done. I'm going to try and bring up a route for those midtown development people about when city vista is done... The sooner we can get a trolley started, the more walkable midtown will become. As one of the earlier posters said, they use to have a trolley and he thought it was very useful, now midtown has even more people.
5. Guys, I really appreciate the feedback... ridership wait time really needs to be taken into account, i tried to find some routes that, although did not go everywhere, minimized ridership time. I really think that we will now have enough ridership to justify the cost. Also, Farb Apartments development and the new Camden is/will bring a huge amount of people to an already beefed up midtown. So if we get a few more comments, I'll take this to the Midtown development people. People on HAIF will probably have the best input in my opinion. I personally like route #5 followed #2... #2 is quickest but #5 stops by the Mix and is still fairly quick...
6.

I know that "Houston Midtown" has been asking people if they want a trolley service (just for midtown area) and i sent in some suggestions. Maybe if other people send in request we can actually make this happen. We need a walkable midtown to help downtown become a more vibrant area. Let me know what you guys think. Here is the website to Houston Midtown, you can fill out the survey and then submit your own suggestions. I hope they actually make this happen. Also, with HCC expanding and the potential for the Mix @ Midtown to grow, the trolley could be pretty useful. http://www.houstonmidtown.com/ MidTown Trolley Route.pdf
7.

agreed, i take it all the time but i hear people compelain about less.
8. Cheers "Your Neighborhood Bar" (as advertised) is moving into where Open City use to be next to Tipsy Clover and El Patio. Looks like they are doing some pretty decent rennovations. Hopefully this along with the new Farb Apartments down the street will revitalize the area a little bit... I think having a decent Midtown is vital to having a walkable downtown area... We need a trolley out here too or something to take people to the train...

10. It seems like the parking garage will be on that middle lot under the lofts or in the center instead of across the street from bagby... Also, does anyone know how far down mcgowan (towards this new development) that the sidewalk expansion project will go? It would definitely be helpful to have those wider sidewalks along next to this new apartment complex
11. Are you referring to the "Beauty News" salon? I think that's been there for quite a while, at least since I started working downtown two years ago. Yes and dang... i was hoping HP was starting to influence (retail wise) the surrounding area.. thanks.
12. Also, did anyone else notice the hair cut store across the street from 3 Forks in the parking garage? I noticed it there about a month ago but I wasn't sure if it had been there before... It would be awesome if the three other store fronts in that garage open up too so they can play off the pavilions for customers... So does anyone know if this hair cut store was open after Houston Pavilions starting taking off or it has been there for some time? I am really hoping some more retail will open up in this garage...
13.

Anyone else make it out to Andulucia's grand opening? It was excellent! and completely packed. Great drinks, great live music, and it was all free! A lot of foot traffic in this area. I think the Pavilions is coming along very well. Also, did anyone else notice the hair cut store across the street from 3 Forks in the parking garage? I noticed it there about a month ago but I wasn't sure if it had been there before... It would be awesome if the three other store fronts in that garage open up too so they can play off the pavilions for customers... Downtown is getting a lot better in my opinion.
14. The site will be preserved as a public park and the four, below-grade, 250-seat jury assembly rooms will be tunnel connected to the Criminal Justice Center, Civil Courthouse, Juvenile Justice Center, and the new Family Law Center. 15. it definitely didn't feel full but it wasn't empty either... I'm hoping that bad weather was the reason why it wasn't more packed. It really is an awesome place.
16. I did and I brought a crew of 13 with me... We got 2 lanes, for one hour, which came out to $140 total (including shoes for everyone)... so about $11 each. There was probaly about 40 people there, and it dwindled down as we got to 2 am. The atmosphere and lounges were great, music was excellent, drinks not too expensive... It is really a very cool place. I am definitely going back.
17. My bad I meant to say Farb... I guess they are just developing the property finally and didn't sell it... at any rate this is excellent, more pedestrians in midtown.
18. Looks like Forbes has sold their property that spans from Bagby to Dennis along McGowen. I'm not sure if there is already a thread on this... I saw a bunch of contruction equipment their today and the workers were clearing the area... I had to stop and ask and they said they were indeed building new apartments. Still haven't found any renderings or anything so please add some if you find it. Good news in a troubled economy and even more residential for Midtown.
19. The condos are on the small lot between the Camden Midtown parking garage and the big Chrysler lot where they park all of their cars that are for sale. They are a small set of condos different than Camden Travis. I always see them when I walk down McGowen towards the train. They have some really good balconies facing downtown too.
20. Awesome! I'll be working overseas for a about a month and half starting next week... It's going to be awesome to come back to downtown with (hopefully) HP hoppin (lucky strike, mia bella, cork wine bar, 3 forks, etc... open!) and the DG area becoming very vibrant. Seems like it has taken HP 1 year to get going but it's going to be awesome coupled with discovery green and the surrounding developments...
