  1. Great, they are slowly improving. Meanwhile everyone I pass who is waiting for the bus has no shelter. Maybe it's because those stops/routes aren't heavily used.
  2. Question (maybe a dumb one): It's a "pedestrian" bridge, but can I ride my bike across it? Obviously this depends on landings, but those usually have ramps instead of steps. It's just kind of crazy getting down there with the kid trailer sometimes. Might be just as crazy trying to go down a ramp with it.
  3. No! If she tries to change you that much, it's not meant to be.
  4. These days, yes it pretty much does. There aren't any remnants of the original neighborhood south of I-10, but the original did extend about to Washington. Not all of this development would be within the original boundaries. For as democrat and free-will as my hood seems to be, there sure is a lot of NIMBY going on. I'm not sure I'm a Heights lifer. People just get too worked up over things that really don't matter.
  5. Why stop there with the pointless retort, just say he'll never find an example with a Walmart Supercenter in the west end. It doesn't matter whether the example is Walmart or not, do you assume the city should have Walmart-specific policies, or do what they are doing and treat it the same as other developments around town?
  6. Why? Going somewhere else won't make better bus stops appear magically in the places I pass every day. I know they have better stops downtown and at transit centers, but that's pretty much the only place I've noticed them.
  7. Is the hole related to the demo or new activity? I saw it but didn't see the progression. Maybe they dug it as part of whatever they are putting there.
  8. I hope they catch this guy and shoot him on the spot. Ladies, please be smart. I know you love to feel strong and independent, but going jogging alone after dark has no upside.
  9. Not worth pictures really. They just have a roof on them. Here I just see crappy poles, and maybe a bench.
  10. Kraft is good, but only in the same way McDonald's is good. You've had it all your life, it's cheap, maybe reminds you of being a kid. It's definitely not top notch cuisine from a cheese or pasta standpoint. But hey, we still eat it. Especially when you toss a can of chili in there. Still haven't gotten there...need to soon.
  11. She's definitely right. On a cold night we hear a lot more trains. More dense air makes for better sound travel. I love hearing it in the distance on a quiet night.
  12. You're spot on there, that was when I was at the height of my collecting. I didn't go nuts, just 1 complete set and a bunch of packs from the circle K so I could get gum. But, my 1991 Topps set proved to be worth more to me as something to study than be worth anything $-wise. I remember looking at Beckett's a few years later, and the only card from that set worth $1 (and exactly that) was the Alex Fernandez rookie card. Amazing how I didn't get to turn my investment into millions. I still have that stuff somewhere...
  13. I love Chicago, just recently made another trip there. Not sure I know enough about it to make for good posting. Do I need a separate login?
  14. Makes me wonder about other frequenters who disappeared...Vertigo58 anyone?
  15. There used to be a big pothole on Heights southbound near 5th where you could see the bricks, I almost ate it there on the bike a couple times. I'd be fine with doing it in brick. People already drive slow as hell down Heights, it wouldn't have any impact. Weird how people constantly drive under the speed limit on Heights, but want to drag race down Yale.
  16. The guy can recruit, or someone on his staff can. He has also had 2 incredible defensive coordinators (Pelini and Chavis) that make him look really good when he really has nothing to do with that. It might come across as whining, but not if you actually watched our games. This past week is just the latest in a string of horrible game management under him. I've never felt so bad after both wins and losses, watching talented guys look so inept at times. The guy is borderline retarded in press conferences. The winning has happened in spite of him, not because of him. So much luck has fallen on us since he's been here, and while I'll take it, we're on our way to 3+ losses for the 3rd straight year which is a great way to get booted out of town. As for A&M, I can't say I've followed them much but they look really good this year. The biggest keys in college football are talent and depth, and while our coach is an idiot we've maintained those 2 things (except at QB, which is another story).
  17. Insulting Florida, the U of jorts, isn't gonna bother me one bit. But yeah, a full 2 arm motion is less cutesy than the little hand signals.
  18. I think it's sadder that all you little 12 schools have cute little hand signs. I told you we (LSU) sucked! I don't even want that win. Dumbest coaches ever, we now have more evidence than we need to fire and upgrade. Tough week on the picks, at best I'm gonna land at 6 out of 15. Good thing I don't play with real money. Or fake money.
  19. We have a Nikon D60, it has done great for what little we know about how to use it. We're considering getting another lens, but haven't really researched it yet.
  20. Unless they install a moat, pedestrian-friendly is kind of pointless to talk about. If someone wants to walk there, they can do so whether there is a parking lot or not. Your urban illusion does not exist here.
  21. If Metro would build real bus stops I would be for ads on those. I just got back from Chicago where I was reminded how a real bus system should be operated.
  22. Should have stuck with it! But I'm glad you didn't, still a dead heat at 0.
  23. I lived a few houses west of that intersection on Welch from 2002-2005, those were good times. Our best anti-prowler security was me sitting on the porch drinking all night, sometimes with a guitar. I miss that porch. Great view of the gigantic rats as they crawled along the power lines at night.
  24. You can also see it from the parking lot across from UHD, at least the beginning/end of it.
