  1. We tried to drive by around lunch but it's still blocked off.
  2. I would say based on my poor picks thus far I'm not catching anyone. I do look forward to Oregon smoking Auburn in the championship. Wishful thinking maybe, but I hate them.
  3. Mizzou and Baylor look like pretty big toss-ups for 30 and 32 at this point too. Who can say beforehand? I was happy to lose that 31 on Wisconsin to see the Big 10 go 0-5 today. That's much better than winning the bowl pick em. As for the 32 on LSU, it's my homer pick. I had us at 1, but then said F that, if we're gonna win I want it to be extra sweet, and if we lose I won't care enough to look at the pick em scores that night anyway. I did end up at 137 on the day, not too bad.
  4. I have 168 points just on today's games, so I either drop even further out of it or make my comeback. Why can't games start at 7am? I can only occupy myself so much with smoking this pork butt since 6:30.
  5. If you can swing it, yes definitely get the degree. But so many people couldn't pass college, so why set them up for failure? Promote the jobs they can excel in rather than making them feel like they are failing by not going to college. It's just a more realistic alternative for a large group.
  6. I don't want everyone to go to college. There is still a great need for skilled labor jobs, there has to be some direction in middle and high school to promote such things. Also, like Niche said everyone isn't smart enough to go to college, not even close. We still need people to do those crappy jobs the rest of us don't want to do. There aren't enough high school kids working to do them all, and they can't work the odd hours that some jobs require. I'm talking about unskilled labor here. I think the promotion and encouragement of skilled labor careers is more important than worrying about education for the masses. It should be a more prominent thing that someone is an expert carpenter, mason, electrician, etc., instead of everything non-degree being lumped into "blue collar". Maybe the (average) pay rates will never be equal to white collar work, but you can easily argue that those skilled workers are contributing much more to the world. They probably also make up the vast majority of small business owners in this country. Not every success comes from a college education, tons of people without degrees make way more than I ever will, and I think I'm doing pretty well.
  7. My allergies hit heavy in April then lighter in September, so I can't help you. This time of year I'm free & clear. Could be mold, Christmas trees, or dust mites, all of which I read are at peak annoyance this time of year.
  8. Revive (and update) the graphic! It happens again on January 3rd.
  9. Employment at will. The menu has a pretty big variety of creative burgers, and the one I had was good. Best to try first then judge. Unless it's in BFE like this is...
  10. About to be 0-3 today, so I would like to change my story to that I am trying to lose on purpose. Because technically, getting them all wrong is as hard as getting them all right.
  11. Your logic is confusing. The burgers are pretty good, why scoff at nice presentation? Anyway, I accidentally went to the one in Dallas with a female coworker on a business trip, and the "talent" was sub-par. She thought it was funny.
  12. Fine by me, I'll do both. I like seeing everyone's picks lined out, so I can think they're crazy for putting a 27 on Tulsa, then they end up being right. ESPN used to show PPR, and I know they always do for the NCAA bracket challenge, Maybe they got lazy this year or let the interns run this one over the holidays.
  13. As long as we find a way to re-district SJL out of a job, I'm for it.
  14. Someone must have sabotaged my picks. I look back on a couple thinking I would never pick that. There are 3 specifically that I originally had right, then I read some column by some sports idiot and decided I should change them. That never works out well. That big 12 bias seems to have hurt you yesterday. Then again I'm an SEC guy and got the same 2 wrong, although for less points. All is not lost, I haven't lost anything higher than 24. After that I lost a 23, then nothing higher than 13. I knew which ones I didn't know. Something like that. Anyway, it could all change today with big numbers on the line (17, 22, 19, 33).
  15. You are right about the defense needing improvement. They could use Dom Capers back on the sideline for that, he's doing a damn decent job as def coordinator in Green Bay. As for the offense, are you sure? Andre Johnson will make just about any QB look good. I'm not sure Schaub is a franchise QB from a leadership standpoint. Look at the differences between Brady/Brees and someone like Romo. Dallas is supposedly the most talented team in the NFL this year. They haven't done anything in years. Brees and Brady are making average talent teams super powers because of the way they lead. Coaching helps for sure, but it's not the only thing (Belichek failed a few times before NE). It's all about the QB, and he's proven he's not going to win those close/late games.
  16. I'm just waiting for the bounce. All mine have to do is go up $1 each and I blow everyone away.
  17. I worked for Ascension Parish in LA in college, and the Parish government was responsible for doing new addresses. Whenever you put in the documents to indicate there are improvements on the land, a new address was part of that process. It might be different here. They didn't address anything until there were approved plans for improvements (or until someone rolled the trailer up the driveway).
  18. There are so many wholesale jewelers, and even those who make their own here in Houston. Unless you are going for something incredible simple and low cost there's no reason to go retail or chain. Jewelry is marked up even more than furniture, I'm sure the wholesalers are still screwing you, but to a much lesser extent. There's a building on Richmond (6222 I think) between Voss and Fountainview that is full of jewelers, I think 9 or 10 floors of them. Just go there and find someone you think is trustworthy (might be hard if you have a phobia of Persians/Arabs/Jews). Also, it's fun to say "I got a guy" for jewelry and not be just trying to sound funny.
  19. Why not just slap some housing on top of existing water towers? I would love to live on a water tower.
  20. It's not against the spread, all straight up. For bowls that's never as easy as you would think. At least I got my 35 pointer right! Enough of this one game per day stuff, I need 5-6 at a time happening.
  21. I already know where to get good mexican food, I will only try this place if they have good margaritas for a great happy hour price.
  22. No chance to win with Apple, so I'm ok with it.
  23. David Weekley Homes used to always make that list. Maybe criteria or the recent economy kept them out this time.
