Interesting. They had it level... guess not anymore. In the picture on the right, you can see the rock pathway in the upper-right corner.

....the Hines tower?

I have no clue why I thought new skyscrapers cost so much more... Edit: Maybe from SkyscrapersPage where I see the prices of towers in NYC and Dubai.

Wow. So probably not a renovation. Well this is even better news if it's a new tower.

Interesting article on Biz Journals today: http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/money-makers/2014/02/remember-aig-theyre-back-and-growing-in-houston.html Anyone know anything? At that price range, I'm thinking more of a renovation based on the usual cost of a new tower. Hopefully this is the financing for the One Allen Center renovations I keep getting told about but that's just a big guess.

From the schematics I've seen, yes. Main is to undergo some renovations itself (even though it is only 10 years old) and one of the key things is to close off this small section of Main: http://downtownhouston.org/site_media/uploads/attachments/2014-02-07/140203-Main_St-Public_Mtg_Presentation-SM.pdf

You captured it far better than I could! Great job. And yes, that's why I'm getting a much better camera in March/April.

Catalyst: Multifamily High-Rise At 1475 Texas Ave.

What he said. You can actually see the excavator for the Fingers apartments near the center. This one is supposed to go up in Q2, but they may be starting early...? My theory though is that they are simply taking soil samples for the engineers.- 911 replies

Well I guess they are doing soil samples right now? I didn't capture it in this photo but if you look to the lower left side, there is actually a large mound of dirt there which I honestly can't tell where it came from... Would be cool if they started early on this though.- 911 replies

Sure is.

Based on everything you posted, it more likely is this property then. Admittedly, he actually said "near light rail and Dynamo stadium" and not "next to." And again, the area he gave me was pretty general.. "across 59 from Minute Maid Park." He said one of the big selling points for the upper floors would be "a birds eye view of any baseball game occurring in Minute Maid Park." So that's all I got

From what he was making it sound like, it could possibly be the giant parking lot bound by St. Emanuel, Texas and Bastrop...? He was actually going over several projects that I was already aware of. He was talking about how he saw the Hines office rendering before anyone else, yatta yatta. He was talking about several projects that HAIF members should be aware of already such as the Hines residential near Market Square and the Capitol Tower... it wasn't until he mentioned this 80 story tower that he caught me off guard.

Two renovations. One demolition. Do we know when the garage construction will start? Someone on the property today told me a couple of years away and residents would use other parking garages in the mean time. Is that right?
