  1. Would somebody be kind enough to snap a few photos of the progress on this as well as the Waterway building across the street.....and if there's time, the Nordstroms location at the mall? I'm sad that nobody cares about a 32-story building going up in The Woodlands
  2. Note about the second link: It looks like a meteor crashed into it or the day after the alien attack on 'Independence Day.' It's essentially the Chase Tower with a chunk missing out of it. No thanks. Keep that trash on the other side of the world.
  3. Wow, that is indeed a nice tower. One day we'll get another supertall. Houston has a bright future with 3 million more people expected to move into the area by 2030. It's conceivable we'll see plenty more highrises built in the area.
  4. I think it would be a good idea to ''cover'' the Southwest Frwy where the bridges are and make it a park---much like Dallas did with the Crosstown Frwy. I bet it would spur tons of apartment development and what not.
  5. I would also argue that Houston has done what only two other cities in the United States have done---have more 600, 700, 800, 900 and 1,000' tall structures than just about anybody in the world. I read somewhere one time (Forbes?) that Houston had the 8th tallest skyline in the WORLD. In a given city, even one like Dallas, a 500, 600' tower or bigger would be an incredible transformation of their skyline. Not Houston tho. Look at the buildings constructed or about to be constructed? BP: Hardly a blip on the skyline (except from the east maybe). Hines new property on Main: 41-stories-ish. Hardly a blip and will cover BP. If Chevron builds them a new 50-story tower, it'll be masked by the Enron buildings. So I think that alone says something.
  6. KPRC Channel 2's story: http://www.click2houston.com/news/United-Airlines-to-open-new-terminal-at-George-Bush-Intercontinental-Airport/-/1735978/19546590/-/10x7byb/-/index.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  7. Hey, I'm a poet and didn't know it! So I guess RedScare has put a curse on me for making a ridiculous statement about The Woodlands being the upcoming Fort Worth of Houston. I have not been so sick in many years. RedScare, I'm joking about the curse---unless you really did in which case I ask that you kindly remove it. lol. Apparently I have bronchitis and laryngitis. It's funny because all I can think about is 'Sweet Brown' saying ''I've got BRONCHITIS! Ain't nobody got time for that!'' And she looked and sounded fine. Me on the other hand, I have lost my voice COMPLETELY. It hurts to swallow water much less food. Coughing is inevitable and it feels like you're coughing up barbed wire. I just sit here and hack myself to death. Fever spikes to 101/102 degrees off and on, ect. This is BAD stuff---my first rodeo with this. Anybody else had it and know what to do for it? I went to the doctor and they gave me FIVE different prescriptions. I suppose they're helping a bit but damn this stuff is nasty.
  8. I was referring to the height and sq. footage of office space being built in the town center, you dingleberry. Indeed maybe it was a bit of an exaggeration but geez, chill out...
  9. Another Anadarko Tower? Could he have been referring to the one that is currently under construction or a third building? Seems like The Woodlands area is quickly becoming the "Energy Corridor" with Exxon, Anadarko and now Shell possibly moving in. The Woodlands will have a legitimate, medium size city skyline before long. I revert back to my previous post in another thread: The Woodlands is quickly becoming the Fort Worth of Houston.
  10. Btw, since Chevron now owns the Enron complex, can we expect the new Chevron tower(s) to be Enron 3 so-to-speak? Will they try and make a similar looking tower to match the others?
  11. From a personal standpoint, I couldn't think of a better location. Property values in The Woodlands/Oak Ridge/Spring are going to skyrocket....especially with Anadarko putting up a new tower and other companies expanding in the region. I think it's time to face fact that The Woodlands (or any area in north Harris or south Montgomery counties) is just as much a part of Houston as the energy corridor or Westchase.
  12. It's unincorporated......for now. I bet dollars to donuts Houston is licking their chops waiting for this to be complete. Is there an off chance that when The Woodlands becomes a city that they could hop the county line to acquire the property?
  13. Very latest as of March 20th---ish. Thanks to the Chron for this image:
  14. It's the Fort Worth of Houston---or looks like it anyway.
  15. Holy crap! I had no idea they were tearing down Sears!!!! I thought they were just renovating it. Wow, big news!! Thanks for doing that, man!
  16. Can somebody update this with pics? This is my very favorite project right now because it hits close to home. Unfortunately, I'm living in Florida or else I'd do it myself. Thanks in advance!
  17. A friend of mine emailed Brookfield and they said that this building is 20% leased---same as it was in Aug. 2011. Not sure if that's good or bad.
  18. While I'm not exactly sure of the block this tower will sit on, I'm assuming that this tower would have to be MEGA tall to escape the shadow of Wells Fargo (from a I-45 North view) or Allen Center for an Allen Parkway view. A 45 or 50 story tower will get lost amongst all the other buildings in this location. Not to mention if 5 Allen Center gets going. I guess what I'm saying is, I don't think it really matters what it looks like or how tall it will be because at the end of the day, it won't amount to anything more than infill. But that's my opinion. I don't know jack diddily squat...
  19. Actually I'd argue that The Woodlands is just as important as any other economic center of Houston (Downtown, Uptown, Greenway, Energy Corridor, Westchase, ect.) The Woodlands is home to major energy/petroleum corporations including Anadarko and Exxon (even tho Exxon technically isn't The Woodlands, it identifies with The Woodlands more so than it does Spring). The Woodlands area--essentially including Oak Ridge and the Montgomery County side of Spring (aka, Rayford Rd----Imperial Oaks, Benders Landing, Fox Run, Legends Ranch, Legends Run, ect) has an enormous population. The Woodlands itself is basically 100k people plus another 50k within 3 miles (just a guess) between all the neighborhoods listed above. The Woodlands is no longer a quiet, sleepy suburb. It's a thriving business center and an important one for the north side of Houston.
  20. I was reading this article below in the Houston Biz Journal and noticed something interesting: The U.S. Census Bureau has changed/updated the names to metropolitan areas across the country including Houston's. The new name for our metro is the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. The old name was Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metro area. Has anybody heard about this?
