  1. I just thought I'd revive this discussion by posting a photo I took of the current state of Downtown Houston's lighting.
  2. This is awesome. I've been saying that we need a non mall Apple store for a long time and I'm glad it's going to be architecturally interesting. I kind of wish it was closer to the universities, but beggars can't be choosers. Does anybody know what parking is like over there? I don't go to Highland Village stores very often.
  3. I agree, this is a much more interesting bridge than the new bridge over Buffalo Bayou and Buffalo Bayou is a much higher profile area which is seen more often by visitors to the city etc. And most Bridges over Braes are usually extremely simple, not suspension bridges so my guess is that the suspension design was just for aesthetics. Maybe they thought that Braes Bayou was so ugly that it needed a really nice looking bridge to make it more desirable as a recreation spot...
  4. Here are a few photos. Sorry they are nothing special. Maybe when it opens I can get a decent photo.
  5. Thanks, I didn't know what that glass coating was called. Yeah it would probably be a great view. I eat up there on 15th all the time but it would definitely not make for good photos. PM me if you find a good spot with clear windows. My lab actually has a view of the Prudential building with clear glass but we're on a lower floor so I don't think it would work so well for photography either.
  6. Hey do you work at TCH? Maybe we can have a TCH viewing party! There's a good space on the 15th floor with a view but the window is treated with little white dots or something so it's not totally clear or ideal for photography. I wish there was a clear window... Anyways, here's what it looks like today:

I'm looking forward to seeing the places where rail has actually been laid!
  8. I looked at the safety notice again and it seems like it actually says the nobody is allowed outside in the safety perimeter zone on demolition day but, but it seems like maybe we can get away with being inside the building if we enter before the perimeter is closed.
  9. Since I moved to Montrose I haven't been in that area in a long time but I'd love to see the bridge. Maybe I'll ride down there this weekend and try to take a photo.
  10. It's nice to see another crane up in H-Town. It's been a while since I saw one of those.
  11. That's what it said. Nobody is allowed in any of the buildings within the security perimeter. Now whether they'll actually enforce that is another story.
  12. The Prudential Building (Currently MD Anderson's Houston Main Building) is scheduled to be demolished on January 8th. Here's an article from Swamp Lot, and here's the safety perimeter map. I can see the Prudential building clearly from my lab at TCH but I'm inside the security perimeter so unfortunately I can't watch it from my lab. Does anybody have any good ideas about where the best place to watch the demolition will be?
  13. Did you guys know that there's a live webcam of the stadium construction? It's a live video feed instead of a photo which is pretty cool, although unfortunately that means it won't work with SlothCam. http://www.houstondy.../stadium/webcam
  14. I didn't make it, we were too hungry on the way home from Galveston to even stop and take a few pictures, although I did see some airplanes flying around from the highway...
  15. I wouldnt mind taking some photos of the wings over Houston air show, but I'm not into it enough to pay for a whole day pass. Does anybody know of a good public place near Ellington Field where I could stop by and take a few photos of cool airplanes?
  16. If this project is dead, then it's the second office/retail project to be cancelled on that section of Binz. The other was on "Binz Med Corp" near Binz and Crawford and the sign was also removed after a year or so after it was announced with no other information about what happened. Actually their website still exists... http://binzmedcorp.com/main.html
  17. I with the retail was going to still be part of it because I always like having more places I can walk to.
  18. Is this still the final rendering? Or Were any changes made before construction was started?
