  1. All those retail and restaurant spaces, wow! This is really going to have a big impact on this side of town!
  2. So I saw a blurb on their site about TT: Texas Tower features unprecedented amenities in the vertically integrated campus, including: (…) public gardens on level 12 Do they mean public for tenants? Or public-public? 🤔
  3. POST will be having a NYE event with fireworks on the skylawn. Have to buy tickets, though. ($65) Probably would be insane without a paid entry Eventbrite link Also, I don’t remember seeing it here, but Common Desk is also going to be coming to POST in 2022. This seems like a really good location for them. They’re also set up in the ION.
  4. Aha! I knew I’d seen it somewhere! It wasn’t just something I’d dreamed up! thank you, gene!
  5. Yeah, it’s weird. I’m probably in the (extreme lol) minority on the forum, but I’m Republican, and this project is about as ideal, on paper, to us as it could possibly get. It’s being privately developed, will create domestic jobs, will definitely spur development at the stations and their surroundings (creating more jobs and $$$) and it gives consumers another alternative way to get between Houston-Dallas. It is straight-up one of the best possible routes in the US for HSR- it’s the perfect distance, these are two huge cities with big economies with tons of travel between them (isn’t that route one of SW’s busiest?) this thing is going to print money because trying to fly that route sucks- to say nothing of driving it. I think there’s a couple of private buses that do the route but the options for people like me who don’t really drive, and don’t do well with flying are severely limited. I’ll be interested to see how this plays out. It’s not very pro-business of us as a state to squash down emerging companies in sectors like this.
  6. I thought I’d heard this, but couldn’t remember where for the life of me. is there a thread on here for that shopping center?
  7. Is there a rendering of flamingo terrace anywhere? (Or is it part of the Galapagos area?)
  8. Completely awesome if true. I was down there recently and thought it odd that little piece of land still sat undeveloped. I’m guessing we should be hearing about plans for the sute soon-ish, then? Like 2022?
  9. I’m always curious to learn more about the Galleria. I spent a fair amount of time there growing up (we went on “vacations” there a lot and always had a good time. We usually stayed at one of the attached hotels- but I can’t remember if it was the Oaks or the Galleria. One of them was less expensive, if I remember right- that was the one we stayed at. I remember we got a cat from the SPCA outpost that was there in 2001- it was over in the really low traffic part of the mall (I think this was III), that ended up getting torn down and replaced. There was also a weird- I think it was a freight or service elevator- that my brothers and I would go into. I don’t remember that it was actually supposed to be public, but that didn’t stop us if it wasn’t. I also don’t remember where it actually went, but we ventured in there a couple of times as kids. The offices were always a bit strange, with the little balconies they had. We used to ride the elevators to the top floor and back for fun. We were very easily entertained kids, for sure. I recently went back (after covid), and was a bit sad that they don’t let you take the elevators to the top without a card key, it seems. (It was also super hot, like they didn’t have the A/C on. We were able to get up to the 5th or 6th floor, and we were dying. Are the higher floors not leased out, I wonder?) Truth be told, I don’t venture much there anymore, even though I have a soft spot for it. Generally these days if I want to go to a mall, it’s Memorial City- they have done an excellent job making it a very comfortable place to eat, shop, and just hang out.
  10. Any word on Marugame? I’m obsessed with all things udon and always look forward to more options on that front :P
  11. Is it likely that those are the final alignments/station choices for the University Corridor? (Sidenote- is it just going to be called the University corridor? Or are they going to give it a color like the Silver line?)
  12. Don’t Pennzoil and the Gulf building both suffer from pretty high vacancy rates? I’d be curious to see how much POST is asking for lines up with similar projects. Probably not something like Texas Tower, but a low or mid-rise new construction office building/ mixed use concept inside the loop? How much are asking rates for, say, Montrose Collective? I’m not an expert on any of this stuff by any stretch of the imagination, to be sure (nor do i play one on tv :P ) but I’d imagine someone who wants to lease office space in POST/one of the trendier new low/midrise buildings might be a different clientele than the people looking to rent in one of the towers in downtown/uptown/etc.
  13. Oh wow I had no idea! That is awesome- we’re definitely going to have to check it out then! I saw quite a lot of people there when we went who were talking about getting tickets to it (and the museum was pretty chill that day, too. It was early on Monday and there were no crowds.) so it sounds like it’s been pretty popular!
  14. HMNS has a neat exhibit right now- Treasures in Gold and Jade. It is super cool and I highly recommend checking it out- it’s free with admission and is a cool little exhibit. We went the other day, but didn’t check out the Egypt hall that was just finished- anyone get a chance to have a look? We may give it a go next time we’re there
  15. If that’s the case, then I cannot wait. I love Tobiuo (though haven’t gotten to check out Kanau yet- iirc it’s the same head chef?), it is my personal favorite sushi place, so I’m completely thrilled to see what they’re cooking up
  16. Nice pic samagon! Yeah, when we went for the soft opening, I definitely got that impression, too. (Though there were a lot less of the restaurants open- I think only like half) I saw what looked like someone moving stuff into one of the office spaces in the Z-stairway area. I wonder if POST is having to compete with ION for tenants for their office space. In any case, I’m excited, and very curious, to see what they’ll do with the space in the next phases. What a unique project- I can’t wait to get back and check it out again!
  17. I’m hoping to get back soon to POST since they had their grand opening. Anyone been back? How’s it looking like on non-opening weekend? I can’t wait to get back and try some of the places that’ve opened up! (I’m a bit ramen fan, so Ramen Moto is one I’m really looking forward to)
  18. I really like in that picture, you can see all of our skylines together-they don’t merge perfectly, but they form a continuous line that looks so cool. It looks like a huuuge megalopolis!
  19. I wanted to go to the grand opening, but I ended up being sick. How has it been? Was it busier than the soft opening, for anyone that’s gone to both?
  20. Ah, RH. I remember years back, they sent me, my mom, my sister, and only one of my brothers (??? But not my others) EACH a massive stack of their catalogs. They were shrinkwrapped and everything- it was literally like 5 or 10 pounds of catalogs for each of us, delivered by UPS. Those suckers were HEFTY. Weird thing was, I was still a teenager living at home, none of my family shopped at RH ever, and as far as I knew, nobody had requested a catalog from them. It is still one of the greatest mysteries of my life. I got a stack of them again the next year, but then, inexplicably, I never received them again. Those rooftop restaurants look super cool though.
  21. When we were there, there was a section in the gardens called The Grove Cafe (it was the part with the asparagus ferns and bamboo!) It looked like they were doing some buildout on a space up there. my husband took a nice pic (This was my personal favorite part because I love bamboo. I was trying to figure the variety out- it’s yellow and had a bit of green striping. Mostly, I’m curious how tall it’s going to get- here where the weather doesn’t get too cold, some varieties can get extremely tall)
  22. We ended up going and it was so cool- the rooftop gardens are absolutely gorgeous and have some spectacular views of downtown. We didn’t see some parts- there was a wedding reception, but next time for sure! It was pretty busy at times- I can only imagine how crowded the grand opening is going to be.
  23. That is really awesome to hear! I’m glad this development (and Greentown) are picking up steam. It makes me so happy because my mom and I went to that Sears a lot- she loved that building and even though it was sketch city around there sometimes, it was a cool building with a neat history. I’d love to take my mom and show her sometime- maybe when Late August opens! 😁 And when I was a student at HCC Main many moons ago (lol), I frequented that Fiesta when I wanted a semi-healthy lunch with fruit/veg and not school vending machine trash-tier stuff. anyway, I love seeing that Sears building is getting a new lease on life, and I’m really glad it’s gaining momentum and getting visitors/tenants/etc. I can’t wait to see the next phases of the project- I know there have been some renders, but does anyone know an approximate timeframe for some of the next buildouts?
