  1. I don't think it will be used for routing but rather so they can move cars from one line to another as they are needed.
  2. I'm late for this one, but here's my view: Rodeo IS bigger than OTC because of the sheer number of people that do come from out of town and is a 21 day event vs 4 days. During this time almost every hotel is booked up from downtown to anywhere near the 610 loop. Business people that normally book inside of the loop are generally pushed into lower ranked hotels or those that are even further out. With traffic at reliant, the typical event strategy won't work; Typically they have officers at various signal lights immediately surrounding the stadium with little central coordination between them. Add to that that the other lights further out are useless at handling the additional traffic. They will need to not only beef up the bus routes too and from downtown, but create a route to the galleria where a fair share of the hotels are located. Perhaps this will be the motivation they will need add some badly needed "Quickline" routes. Hopefully, they will do it so you can easily cross one side of the city to another, and I don't just mean east to west, but north to south. The number of cars on the rail line will need to be increased to beyond the typical "Rush hour" intervals.
  3. From what I understand, there will be a 10 day event While a good portion of the people will come to Houston for the game itself, there will be a number of people that will simply come for the various parties. While a rail to the airport would be grand, it is pointless without a more extensive system heading west. It seems to me a large share of the hotel rooms in the city are out in that direction, therefore people will be taking other transport options.
  4. The app is amazingly helpful. a little prior research is a great thing. If a rack is full, simply go to the next nearest one and return it there. Of course, If you have the app, you can save yourself one trip and go straight to an empty one.
  5. I was mentioning this to a visiting friend. He moved away years ago and we talked about how you can actually SEE the Bayou and can now fully appreciate the shore as it stands. It will be interesting to watch on a good rain when it floods. BOT: I have seen many people use the bikes. A couple of friends actually ride them to the Dynamo games; They park on the other side of downtown and park them by the station at Lucky's as there is usually a couple of empty spots. I plan on using them in a couple of weeks when I go to some shooting downtown at night. Anyone knows if they plan on taking them to the Med center, Reliant or other neighborhoods?
  6. I think one of the next things to be done is to lower the speed limit in certain areas at night. 30mph during the day is pushing it in Midtown by Bagby, but at night, 10mph is pushing it for safety. A couple of cops walking the beat the old fashion way would be awesome as well.
  7. Why? Chillin' out and laughing at people who are commuting home in Sugarland can be an excellent past time while you're at home already.
  8. To be fair, it could have been someone from the 'burbs driving through. Living in the boonies, I have discovered that people DO drive considerably faster and more reckless. That being said, I find it amazing on how many people bike out here. I'm not talking recreational, but actual commuting. Fortunately, the cops out here are very enthusiastic in their traffic enforcement.
  9. As I was driving down Lower Westheimer, I was thinking perhaps having it one way from Bagby to Kirby from East to West with an exclusive Bus lane (BRT-ish), with W. Alabama going East. Could take it one step further and reduce it to 3 lanes and either make on street parking available, just reduce the speed limit to 20. Then again, they need to do that at night in Midtown.
  10. they were just talking about this site on the 5pm news on ch. 13. The renderings look good.
  11. Maybe because its supposed to be ecofriendly? A green pidgeon, if you will.
  12. Took a quick pic. Anyone know what's going on top of this garage? http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l151/ricco67/20130413_144949_zps066b126e.jpg
  13. Now that it's closing, I feel it's okay to talk about it now. I used to go to Marf's during my single days in the 90's. It was wonderfully seedy and the waitresses selectively blind. The newest state of Marf's was disappointing after. To me it was "Disney-ized" and brought it a different crowd I didn't care to see and hang out with. If those walls could talk...esp that back room. Then again, all you needed was a black light and the tales can guessed at from there.
  14. Finally got around to making a new vid for this line. Talked to someone saying that they might be testing the lines sometime during the summer. He also said they were going to test the cars as well, but I don't know if he meant if they were going to be tested on the current line or not. It was only a brief meeting, so that was all I got. Additionally, when I go back to filming this summer, I'm going back to speeding up the vids, unless people like the real speed. Once the line is completed, I'll do a complete run. http://youtu.be/0q8w9mTIp-k
  15. just talk to somebody that was finishing construction in the area. He said a tower will be at least a 25 stories. He didn't give a date on when it will start, but he is already contracted to work on it.

Finally got around to doing the east line again. : http://youtu.be/mWVEm1NRKd0
  17. I can't quite remember where I've been posting these, so I thought I'd just throw this up on here. If the mods can help consolidate them in my location, I'd appreciate it. http://youtu.be/6FH9BIiZ1jY
  18. When the Soviet Union left the nation the left a government in tatters with no such a control.. This resulted in a 10 year revolution or struggle for control in the region which allowed the Taliban to take control. It was at this point where the people are willing to accept any government at all. If we were to leave now with no functioning government then we would just be back in 10 or 29 yrs. Whether or not it was worth to invade the country begin with is pointless. We can always like at what we SHOULD have done with armchair quarter backing, but unless you're there making decisions, you can't really say what you would have done, captain hindsight.
  19. Oh yeah. Let's make the same mistake the Russians made when they left Afghanistan after the war they started. Nothing went wrong then.
  20. Not true. I've caught the train from both of Chicago's airports and I didn't see the multiple stops as an inconvenience and it was packed with passengers.
  21. Well, I'm just sitting back and stockpiling cash to take advantage of the panic selloff that is bound to happen. Edit: Darn phone.
  22. I'm ok with that. I'm still on the corner, but I met samagon at least
  23. I am at the corner of Austin and prairie, wearing a dynamo shirt
