  1. Hard to compete when you got a Best Buy and a Fry's within a couple of miles from you.

I don't know how everyone else thinks but i've converted a few walmart shoppers that buy ink there our customers. How "Good luck finding anyone to help you!" "You're already here do you feel like shuffling through all those baskets in the parking lot? to save 12 cents?" Sometimes being honest and offering good customer service works. I don't buy crap at frys(unless i need sata-4pin convertor and fans) I had a long battle with best buy once i wound up winning and never bought anything again. I think i went to the one by gulgate but walked out and went to gamestop.

  2. The problem IMO is they can't compete with online vendors. You basically have to do your own product research as it is, so people who already know what they want will almost always find a better price online, and without sales tax (granted, you're supposed to ante up, but my guess is most people don't).

Take buying an HDMI cable for example. Circuit City charges $55 for a 4' HDMI cable. Best Buy charges $64 for a 4' HDMI cable. But I can go online and find one for less than $10. In fact, I bought several 3' HDMI cables from amazon.com awhile back for about $2 a piece. An HDMI cable is something you would expect to be an inexpensive last-minute item, yet every brick and mortar store insists on blatant price gouging on certain last-minute convenience items like cables. Since their selling model doesn't really add any value to the educated consumer, it's no surprise they are struggling. I am surprised that Best Buy is doing better, as I always thought they were more expensive and had worse customer service than CC.

Best buy doing better? Yeah don't hold your breath. i'll spare the story from last week in 10 min long line with one cashier.

  3. Great pics Boris, as always.

When i'd seen the commercials i thought the place was boring as hell. The "renaissance" period and "jousting" just don't do it for me...How ever there are lot of characters out there. I loved the drive and a pickle i ate that was half cucumberish(Oh god) my little boy got a weird dragon snake toy he loves. I've been back 2 times :) The dunk a wench deal is hilarious she is such a bit#h!

  4. I remember the lumber company that was on the west side of Evergreen (and Lawndale), the train tracks would have been directly north of it, the ceramic shop very close to it. But can't recall the lumber co. name. My g-mother lived very close to that intersection. I know Martini's Hardware.

Are y'all talking about where magnolia pawn used to be? The Bills Ice place lost the "cover" and you can see windows from ages ago. Nena(you aren't my mom are you? She lived in the area and her nick name is Nena!) Check this pic out!
