  1. Staples plans on opening 11 locations in Houston this year. They tend to enter only 1 new market a year, but are breaking that trend this year (Minneapolis is the other market).

This is their 3rd attempt to enter the market, and this time it will stick. The Almeda Staples is supposed to open in April.

I will be looking at any further info on these 2 possible locations..

    ps-my 1st post here.. woohoo!!

The almeda staples says "Opening soon!" on the website, I assume they are being built next to the circuit city in Almeda crossing. Last time i drove there was a big building.

  2. Cool. I've always received good customer service from them when ordering online. There's also one going in at 1960 and Stuebner Airline/Veterans Memorial too. It will be in the same shopping center as the new Hobby Lobby, Willie's, and others.

They said back in June they were entering the market. The first one was supposed to open in "Almeda Crossings" Hell they're hiring and they haven't broken ground yet. No signs nothing!

  3. Texhwyman.com said that there are no tunnels that are part of the state highway system. It said the current tunnels in Texas are the Addison Airport Tunnel in Addison, one in Big Bend National Park, and the Washburn Tunnel.

I heard that Federal Road goes to and through the Washburn Tunnel. Is it also part of the state highway system with a numbered road?

I don't think so the old maps of Pasadena i've seen list it as "N. Richey Rd"(or shaver i can't remember)

  4. Do you mean where The Broadway Theater once stood?

The mound or hill rather was formed decades ago and no bridge ever came through. Someone stated in another topic that a freeway was to go down Lawndale? or perhaps just end there as you exited off 225 coming from Paserdener? Why of all places did they have to place right where that beautiful theater stood. Grrr.

That empty paved lot has been used as a driving test ground for Drivers Ed students (or was). Hard to imagine an actual park there? Could you clarify if this is the spot you speak of? :)

Yes, the empty paved lot was razed and leveled. I';; try to get a pic of the sign.

  5. Yes, newspapers make most of their money from advertising. I don't think the Chronicle would stay in business very long if all they received was the 50 cents that a newspaper costs.

Years ago, to my surprise, I found out that fast food restaurants make their biggest profits from the sale of drinks, not food.

Yep that why you pay up to 2.50 for a 20 oz... The markup on 20 oz pepsi is almost 1 buck. Whole sale is 65 cents a bottle. You buy it for 1.39

  6. You will definately get a "pro-rated" amount for the extended warranty you bought. You need to call the lender your loan is through and get an exact 10 day payoff. Taking off the extended warranty will get you credit toward the end of your loan, if you keep the truck, and you won't get a check cut back to you until after you trade in the truck, if you decide to take the hickey. If you take the warranty off NOW, and keep the truck, you won't get a check cut, you will simply get a credit towards the end of the loan which will reflect the pro-rated amount.

Yes, dealerships will also buy your truck off of you, but like Carmax told you I'm sure, "You have to come up with the difference in order for us to get the title." Also, believe me on this, Carmax is giving you ALL the money on the truck, you WILL get less from a dealership.

NOW, jm1fd, it still wouldn't matter if it was a brand spanking new Toyota Tundra CrewCab with the 5.7 liter, that puppy is gonna be worth $8-$10k in the ditch. I know you buy cars about every 2 to 3 years, but I buy and sell them EVERYDAY, except Sunday, Christmas.

I make 1500 every two weeks, my note was $550 gas is $60 a week. So i'm getting rid of it for financial reason(i can't justify keeping it) I think i have full refund on the warranty for 60 days,

  7. I agree that he should sell it privately. It is the only way he is gonna get the most for his truck. The question is whether he has the time for the looky-loos, and the money for advertising and such.

I say throw it up on craigslist.com and see what happens. The bigger problem is that there are very few people who have the cash to pay $29k all at once, or know how to go about getting their financing together without the help of a dealership.

It's an 08 chevy silverado ext cab LT black short bed. I took it to car max and they offered me $20,000 i bought it for 23,995+warranty+finance So if i sell it to them i need to come up with 9,000. Do any car dealers "buy" trucks like carmax?

  8. I bought a new 08 truck the pay off is 29k. I would really want to get rid of it. (I didn't think it over very well) What would my best route of selling it be? (i understand as soon i drive off the lot the depreciation...etc)

  9. I've had a gmac auto loan for 4 years, Never any problems. I lost the envelope with the address in and mailed it to the address they provided when i called. Now they claim they didn't receive a payment for 271(check never cleared) They left a "30 days late" on my credit report, It droppped my score 50 points. How can i clear this up on my credit report? I did a dispute online with experian. (i called and did a bank draft for the payoff for the autoloan, so i'm not in default.)

  10. If 71% of households shopped at wal-mart, and 74% of those buy clothing there, that's a large number - has much changed since '99?

    http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m309..._38/ai_54943754

    HAHA!

Wow, I have never bought "wrangler" or "faded Glory" clothes at walmart, It's like buying clothes at a cheap 99cent store. I'd rather buy my clothes at Old Navy, Macys(yeah the same company probably makes it) I read the chron article and noticed that someone posted that Wal-mart is cheaper...Let me tell EVERYONE something Kroger and Randalls are EXPENSIVE AS .....! I shop at Food Town, 12pk of coke(i drink it non stop) 3.33(for 2 weeks) 3.88 at Wal-Mart(which is *sarcasm* so cheap) HEB had it even higher than wal-mart. Hell Even walgreens had it cheaper. A few weeks later wal-mart adjusted the price to be the same as foodtowns. I went to a target in Pasadena and noticed the same item was cheaper at Target than wal-mart. Where is the "cheaper" coming from? I'm cheap, Autozone had a car sponge for 1.99 Oreilys' had then for 99 cent, Walmart 1.48. No, i don't hate wal-mart but hate the fact people brag about how much cheaper everything is. Factor the time in getting to one...Finding a parking spot, making sure a basket won't hit your car, standing in line to check out...etc

  11. I ran into this problem a couple of days ago. I brought my little basket of groceries to the checkout and put it on the counter. The girl told me I had to empty the items onto the belt. I firmly, but politely, informed her that this is her job. When she refused I informed her that I had nothing to do for the rest of the day but stand at the counter and wait for her to complete her task, or if she liked, she could call the manager and I'd have him explain to her the concept of "customer service."

    She unloaded the basket.

When I'm paying $4.99/gallon for milk and the store refuses to stock egg nog, you'd better believe I'm not unloading the basket.

I don;t see how it was the cashiers fault? Most people unload there own stuff. You should've talked to the manager first. I had someone argue "Customer is always right!" with me the other day...Neither company i have worked for have had that policy in the manual. I can't say i like people who belittle the low man on the totem pole very much. Also, for the fact i', paying 2.84 for gas you better believe i'm not pumping my own gas :P

  12. I think it's just all a big conspiracy to get us to pay for radio, and we all are falling for it, aren't we? Matt and I just got XM ourselves, but not before we got really pissed off that we felt like we had to. The shape of the airwaves is changing and not for the better.

I doubt it...I listen to 96.5 at work (ugh) and they have "Geico commercials free hour" every once in awhile.
