  1. All "stink" bashing aside all i can say is ABOUT DAMN TIME.

Start-up service in April lets local commuters put it in park

Pasadena will soon have its own park and ride, offering commuters an easy, inexpensive way to travel to the Texas Medical Center or downtown Houston. The park and ride comes as the result of a contract between the City, METRO and Harris County and is projected to be operational as early as April, pending City Council approval.

Once established, the park and ride will be based in the northern part of the Pasadena Town Square mall parking area, near the Sears repair shop. Riders who board the bus in this location can remain aboard to travel to destinations downtown, or can ride the bus to METRO

  2. I mean, every part of a city serves a purpose, and we thank Pasadena for giving us cheap gas prices, but nobody can reasonably expect it to ever be affluent or a "nice area" as long as the refineries are there. Its not just being dramatic to say that the area stinks to high heaven and is one of the most unsightly places in Houston.

It's not Houston...BUT it gets better the more south you go. Fairmont area has some nice homes.

  3. Well, they could make a detour for all the folks coming from Louisiana, and when they make it over the big beltway 8 bridge, they have a sign that says, "Welcome to Stinkadena, a little piece of Louisiana, right here in Texas ?"

Well the same could be said about the "east" side of HOUSTON. I went to milby and could smell stuff from the rhone polenc plant... All anti pasadena bashing aside look at the draft they are proposing. http://130.94.216.225/N-Pasa_Redev_Plan_Pr...FT-01-23-09.pdf Once you get a half mile off the freeway"the smell" is gone...(Which really only comes when a front moves through.)

  4. The Eastwood branch post office on Lawndale has already started to do its part in reducing operating costs. It's now closing an hour earlier - 4 pm on weekdays and 11 am on Saturdays.

I've noticed that some days, no one on my street in Broadmoor receives any mail in their boxes.

    Hmmmmmm....

You're lucky they are even OPEN on Saturday...I used to print my labels online and dump them in the automated machine at the Pasadena main branch before they took it out!

  5. Wow, thanks! In 2003, there was a toy store that was called Kid N Kaboodle, but that's about it.

Texas gift shops are so boring. Name a mall in Texas that DOESN'T have one of these (or a GNC, for that matter).

True even boring old Pasadena Town Square has them!

  6. In part yes, but the biggest winners of spectrum in the auction were Verizon and AT&T.

Its not about me. I have no interest in coupons for myself. The government has a responsibility to fix what they broke, or rather, what they auctioned off. I see that you disagree, but it looks like you've lost this one because the coupons are still going to be distributed and the forced roll out has been pushed back to June. Verizon and AT&T will have to wait a little while longer and be patient while this transition takes place.

I turned my BC396t and noticed digital P25 transmissions on 770mhz on my scanner already. I wonder what if anything this delay will affect in that range.

  7. i had a guy calling around...Trying to find some boxes. Well we didn't have any. I told him i had seen some at target, he started to argue with me that he didn't want to pay out of pocket. I laughed and told him i've seen them for 49.99 so he'd have to pay atleast the $10 he got mad and told me it was his last day to use it cause "no one had any!"

  8. A flaw in your reasoning is that you assume there are alot of educated consumers... and therefore americans. We all know most americans struggle to read anything of a technical nature and barely past a 7th grade level. I think you give americans too much credit.

I find it disappointing most people young, old, or the one's wearing a suit and tie, AND even these damn dr's don't read. Your kids teachers are the worst ones! I had a teacher trying to return some product 3 months later. "But ma'am the return policy is clearly stated on the back..14 day!" Her reply "I didn't read it! NO ONE READS THESE THINGS!" I bet if it said free whopper she'd read. :P

  9. Its not the truckers that cause the traffic, most truckers are professional drivers and know the stay out of the left lane.

Yeah right, i've seen MANY drive 50 mph in the left lane...Some even on 225 where it says "No Trucks Left Lane Next 13 miles"(The fuel/oil tankers are the worst ones.) We need a "Move out of the on ramp lane if there is no one in the middle lane!" sign. I hate getting on a merging freeway on ramp at 40 mph behind a car when there is no one in the next lane.

  10. If they keep this up to Disney park standards, it will be a hit.

If they start cutting corners and go the Six Flags route, it will following a quick path to deterioration fast.

I really want this to work.

Six Flags started to cut corners cause they bit off more than they could chew...Surprisingly aside from the entrance to the park disney is much cheaper than SF...

  11. I'm glad to see Carl's Jr. is coming to Houston! I also read a few months ago that San Antonio was adding them for the 2nd time. And just the other day I read on a Help wanted website here in Bryan/College Station that Hardee's is coming to Bryan/College Station and is looking for employees.

What ever happened to Krystal Burger expanding in this area, and Dunkin Donuts was supposed to add 100+ locations in the Houston area.

What do you want Krystal burger for? They are digusting...I ate at one in orlando a week ago....eww

  12. I keep hearing there are "down payment assistance grants" Does anyone recommend a site? I've found a house, i have a stable job 6+ years no debt just on amex and a student loan. My credit score is in the mid 700's,(got a prequal for 130k) No car note, or anything that would limit me. I'm worried about closing costs, they seem to be a huge varying number(till you get the good faith estimate). I posted on another forum and got a smart ass comment of "Well if you have a hard time coming up with closing what would make the bank think you could pay the mortgage!" I'm looking for some direction in the right way.

Maybe a good few banks? BofA has no fee plus...BUT the interest rate is almost 6-7% Wells had 5% w

  13. It will only work, INSIDE the car. It won't cut anybody else off Ed. It doesn't work that way. It is like the "Intelligent Key" on my Altima, Murano, and Maximas. It will have some kind of built-in range finder.

MusicM, like I said, it would become enabled in a wreck or if the engine is off. It can only work with a powersource, and it can only work if the car is in any gear other than park.

Funny...You can probably hack it like many in dash stereos that have "safe mode" to prevent you from adjusting the gps once the car moves. Mine was a simple grounded wire :) It's a good idea BUT my wife often calls 5 mins before i get home to pick something up...Imaging me not getting home with the crap she wanted !

  14. Drove by a couple of lit up homes tonight:

Will post more later. Feel free to post your own discoveries here.

    Adios

I'm too dumb to figure out how to use my rebel xsi in the dark...BUT they are usually some good houses on Tierwester and Daphe in between scott. :) Just pack your gun!
