  1. i don't think so, but i don't have the numbers to prove it. just my experience of booking about 15 tickets a year over the last 3 years, as other airlines started taking away meal service, the prices fluctuated consistently for all the airlines (except SW).

other airlines started taking away meals and charging for bags, etc to maximize their bottom line, but they didn't lower ticket prices (or not increase them as much) when they took away food.

i'm sure it factors in to some small extent, but not enough for the consumer to notice or even be effected given ticket prices fluctuate several times a day depending on demand.

I remember last year there was a billboard that read "Full meals on flights...Other airlines are just plane NUTS!" Poking fun at Southwest...haha! who is laughing now?

  2. Souhwest Airlines might get upset again although there's more than enough auto traffic to divert to high speed rail.

Texas would really show the nation to be a leader in this venture.

Who could blame them? They have 38 dollar fares(38-48) one way in 45 mins you're in dallas. They have hourly or so flights to and from Kdal/khou.

  3. 103 is not an ER situation. Been there, done that. I've been at 106 twice, yet only when I was vomiting bile did I bother with the ER. The other time it was a flu or something similar, and I filled the bathtub with cold water, emptied all my ice trays into it, and sat in it until a relative, who is a health practicioner, could arrive from out of town to ensure my survival. I probably saved a couple thousand dollars by doing that...proving my point, that the demand for healthcare is price elastic.

A couple of thousand? i had a kidney stone( i thought my appendix had burst) my over all bill before my insurance was 15,000 for an MRI and toradol for emergency room. I think i paid $300 bucks total(after insurance adjustments). My dr advised me to call him and go to a smaller ER from now on.

  4. My mother saved everything. While going through some old boxes awhile back, I came across this hospital bill from when my sister was born in 1927. Names have been deleted to protect the innocent. I thought it interesting in light of all the present discussion about healthcare costs today. When my kids were born in the early 60's, I remember the hospital bills from St. Lukes were $400-$500 and that was for a 4-5 day stay. I would be curious to know what the hospital costs for newborns have been since then, if anyone is willing to share that info.

$3,000 for a 3 day stay at Bayshore as of Jan...09

  5. I bet if there were a quarter in that cart the lazy folks would walk that 10 feet.

I work at a store...People push the carts RIGHT UP to the door and the door closes on the carts half the time. Walking 2 feet in the store would be to hard...After they wandered for 40 mins and stink up the restrooms :)
  6. I once flew to HRL from Hobby. I was in line to board my plane and people showed there credentials(passport/visa/birth certifaces) to a Border patrol agent. I didn't show anything and was let on. Hobby is the only serious airport that takes real ID's under scrutiny(your id gets looked at several times, microscope deal and a purple light.) BWI/LAX/IAD (name matches ticket ok..) I would refuse to prove to anyone(other than my employer) my status. I know way too many "white" people that are here illegally so the race card shouldn't be drawn... Does anyone REALLY REALIZE how easy it is to get in the US from Mexico?(a few years ago) I forgot my ID and showed them my little laminated card and got waved thru.

  7. Yes, Houston, not Harris County.

Must be an older episode. The Houston ones I was speaking of have only just started shooting, so it will be months before they air.

Great, i drove on Harrisburg/75th and saw HPD running "hot" thru the intersection. Guess what i saw? I guy with a boom mike in the back seat and a camera man! This was 3 days ago.

  8. I have noticed from time to time that the Exxon station at 290 and Huffmeister will sometimes be $.30 cheaper than anyone around. Last time I remember is when gas was $2.71 and they were at $2.38.

That http://www.houstongasprices.com/ is chock full of good people, they service the Austin area as well. I forgot about that website, thanks O'neal.

I saw 2.12 in the pasadena area BW8 and Fairmont.

  9. Frenchy's Chicken is celebrating their 40th birthday this weekend:

They're having two parties, one at the Kirby location and one at the original location. Hell yes, I'm gonna be there!

I had a few friends that warned me about the scott st one after dark...I went 3 or 4 times and never had problems. I like that one more than the one on Kirby. Supposedly everything is prepackaged. Even the coleslaw.

  10. looks like left out LA too.. maybe we're too major for them.

We're a major city without a theme park... I didn't click the link but if you mean3g they test it and build out in "techy places" Remember when Xm launched, It was only available in Dallas/dc and a few other places.

*edit* clicked the links, I think AT&T was launched and has been around in CA for a period of time. ATT took over the old primco towers and merged with Cingular. I see t-mobile wasn't even mentioned...I get 1(mbps?) download on my t-mobile 3gmodem.
