  1. This could be associated with all the new drainage work the city has been working on downtown
  2. I like the way these actually try to interact with the street grid more than a median style transit route; the shepherd transit center is a good idea, but it would mean losing that Saltgrass steakhouse. The studemont stop will be close to Kroger - I didn't even realize that before. Could be a nice way to do a grocery run for downtown residents, depending on how well the transit center connects to it
  3. It looks like it will be a pet store from the HCAD listing It says year built 2020, style "kennels"
  4. The taller Texas donuts seem to switch to metal framing after passing 4 or five floors
  5. I know they want to have a brewery, but they missed out the chance to have "Frost Town Ice House"
  6. I poked around on HCAD, but it looks like its just part of the 59 ROW. I wonder if it could be related to the GRB access ramp?
  7. Maybe a third vending machine
  8. I would guess that instead of just making the Sunset limited more frequent, it's a seperate train (maybe the Alamo Flyer or something) that would be daily (or more frequent) service. And hopefully faster, though that would take a lot of track work I think
  9. There's already one on OST 3915 Old Spanish Trail, Houston, TX 77021 https://www.google.com/maps/place/Dairy+Queen/@29.7079226,-95.3743537,14.5z/data=!4m8!1m2!2m1!1sdairy+queen!3m4!1s0x0:0x19d3246435ccc0d6!8m2!3d29.702862!4d-95.3570098
  10. This morning came out with a proposed new route map by 2035 with the current proposed funding increase, and it seems to include "new services" in the Texas triangle New service (presumably much more frequent) to San Antonio, and new service to Dallas via College Station. I wonder how they think they'll do that - using existing lines? Will they pay UP or BNSF to upgrade them? Will they keep the Amtrak shack or are they planning on consolidating with TCR? I know one of the big bottlenecks in Houston for trains is a crossing downtown called tower 26 that is super busy; can they pump more trains through there without laying more track? Just wanted to start a discussion about this I'm sure there's people who know more about the Houston train network] Edited: from the fact sheet pdf http://media.amtrak.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Amtrak-Connects-US-Fact-Sheet.pdf
  11. Does it come with the abandoned minivan?
  12. I could use a good soft pretzel - my smoke detector can attest that it's hard to make at home
  13. It was an active business last year. Any ideas what is happening there?
  14. Because then you can have alternates that can bring a larger amount of people in. HOV lanes allow express busses, shuttles, van pools, etc the ability to still come in to town without worrying about as much traffic. Even a 2+ HOV lane has double the throughput of a lane with only single occupancy vehicles, because there are twice as many people by definition.
  15. If I had an extra large vehicle, I would for sure be trying to fit it in the garage first, or at least measuring
  16. Were they not able to keep it open because Frank's and Frank's backyard were technically separated? At least in East Downtown, every bar that has at least one chair outside is packed all weekend
  17. If you buy a house that your current vehicle doesn't fit in, that seems very short sighted to me. If you then buy a new vehicle that doesn't fit in your existing house, that just shows poor judgement
  18. Major track work until March according to metro https://www.ridemetro.org/Pages/RiderAlert.aspx?utm_source=homepage&utm_medium=carousel&utm_term=rideralert&utm_content=seewhere&utm_campaign=rideralertred
  19. This is what the presentation is showing for the system; it implies that you would need to transfer at NW TC to go to the galleria from downtown
  20. According to HCAD, the parcel with Jos A Bank and the former 1/2 price books is owned by someone else 2537 UNIVERSITY BLVD HOUSTON TX 77005 The parcel across the street is owned by Rice though
  21. It looks like chain link fences on overpasses over train tracks is standard https://ftp.dot.state.tx.us/pub/txdot-info/cmd/cserve/standard/bridge/rlstd032.pdf I'm not sure why
