  1. This was the what was in the city's presentation I think at least planning for the ability to add this in the future would be a good idea
  2. Wow I only recognize it because of the street sign
  3. I like that they chose to add red to the brick facade as opposed to demolishing it. It looks good
  4. Gyms are probably the easiest (pre-COVID) thing to turn a warehouse into - just rent out an empty warehouse, update the A/C, and buy a bunch of treadmills and free weights
  5. The Post building is under very active construction now The warehouse next to Frankel's had a burst of activity around March/April (some steel trusses went in, probably to replace the roof and add floors), and Frankel's itself seems to be getting cleared out very slowly - every day someone comes with a trailer and unlocks the gate in the back. The HCC building I haven't seen any activity, though the warehouse at Delano & McKinney appears to also have been recently cleaned up to be put on the market
  6. I've walked by here a couple of times and thought the facade looked interesting
  7. That's kind of Houston TxDot's thing, building highways
  8. I believe the midtown TIRZ has been buying land in 3rd ward to hold it/develop it as affordable housing; there was a deeper discussion of it on here a while back but I don't even remember which forum
  9. The current building isn't that great. It's possible this might be a massive facelift of the current building, or a new build
  10. Well at least a surface lot can still be redeveloped into something later
  11. These look like they're staged to go somewhere else, right? Since there's no gravel underneath them?
  12. Polk? And I thought any closure of McKinney would be only for thru car traffic
  13. This development looks great; I hope it will encourage a redone RR crossing on Sampson
  14. It's a two lane road; it was never safe for cars to pass the bus while it was stopped on the side, but as the bus pulled off a few feet people would pass it. Now the bus will stop in the travel lanes, but the stops should be quicker, as there wont be as much steering
  15. Some better photos. Looks like they are raising the level of the bus stop. Maybe to reduce the step from stop to bus? Or maybe it's an attempt to fix the drainage issues that the Cavalcade stops have
  16. Apparently there was a protest today on Polk against the freeway https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/transportation/article/Critics-of-I-45-rebuild-plan-take-protest-to-Eado-15541024.php
  17. It looks like they had to redo at least one of the bus stops. The bike bypass ramp is demolished, as are the bricks, and the concrete looks higher than it was
  18. It would be nice to have at least one through pedestrian pathway through the convention center, but I don't see how they could realistically do it
  19. Some of the new ramps aren't draining right - a puddle will form at the bottom of the ramp in the mildest of rains
  20. Update: looks like some people are trying to keep the bike lanes passable during trash day
  21. There's a couple of unusual residences downtown. The office building next to Houston House is actually just a large house; there's a block-sized warehouse in East Downtown that one couple lives in. I'm sure there's more that I haven't discovered yet
