  1. Sooo..... time for eminent domain? Honestly a possibly rare win-win scenario? Just seems bananas to me to spend $10 mil for 30 years of a lease when the land can't be more than that.
  2. The webpage is down on the church's website. Also, HCAD not showing a transaction since 5/17/2017. Maybe the deal fell through? Edit: It is still listed at the bottom of each of their pages.
  3. I believe that they mentioned during the meetings that every street should be swept once a quarter.
  4. It is unclear to me, but it sounds like we contract out our street sweeping? And basically they are going to need to add them when it is time to be re-bid.
  5. Yes, that would be the idea. She is not the project lead, so she didn't have any real specifics unfortunately.
  6. They talked about bike lane maintenance today in the BAC Infrastructure meeting. I know we discussed it somewhere but I can't find it and didn't think it needed its own thread. TLDR: Street-sweepers need a 10' lane, so anything that isn't is SOL until some community partners or local residents step up. Recommendations (this is a draft report. Final report is coming soon):
  7. This has been in the works for awhile. Lauren Groves, former CoH Planning Department transportation team member now works for Public Works and mentioned it during the Bicycle Advisory Infrastructure Subcommittee meeting today. This has been in the works for a few months as they needed lots of entities to sign off on it. One thing that was kind of funny was that they weren't sure who was paying for it. I think they decided it might be TXDOT (*cough bloodmoney *cough*) This has always kind of bewildered me that it has never been done, but here we are!
  8. This bikeway was mentioned in the BAC Infrastructure meeting and I asked a question about it. It's currently in 30% design phase and they are still looking at some road narrowing on Patterson north of Washington. Not sure how they are going to do that without killing some parking, but I guess we'll see. They also mentioned the word "chicane"
  9. They not doing the drop off/pickup zones anymore? https://cityofhouston.news/city-of-houston-to-pilot-pick-up-drop-off-zones-in-downtowns-historic-district/ Also, Downtown District replied and said that Little Dipper patio will open on Friday and two more in the next few weeks. Restaurants do have to get TABC approval to serve out there evidently, so maybe a paperwork issue.
  10. Main finally closed for restaurant use?
  11. They posted on their Facebook that they would be opening in April with no specific date listed.
  12. They are currently now hiring: https://www.instagram.com/p/CL66AMMFLIX/ So maybe 2-3 weeks out? A little more? Edit: looks like they are hiring a dedicated oyster shucker https://www.paycomonline.net/v4/ats/web.php/jobs/ViewJobDetails?job=62416&clientkey=476A40F8AC9AD34FD1553861F6F61065
  13. I talked with a developer this week and they mentioned that they had been offered several of the Cadillac lots, but for big money, so it didn't make sense for their type of project. Like $200+ psf. I did read about how Cadillac was offering to buy back the franchises because they are switching to all EV by the end of the decade. Maybe we'll get lucky.
  14. The empty parcel next to this is up for sale, too. Across from W Alabama Ice House. It is that green field in the bottom of the last picture. I wonder what this will end up being!!!
  15. Did any portion of Main actually close?
  16. D/E parking Garage will permanently close March 1 https://www.fly2houston.com/newsroom/articles/terminal-de-parking-garage-bush-airport-will-permanently-close-march-1
  17. Crazy MFers are out there working today. Maybe just picking up the assembly crane?
  18. It's pretty tall 👀 And it can extend out a good bit, right?
  19. So this is different as we are talking about north of Buffalo Bayou and this is on the south side. Haven't heard that they figured out how to get to BB, yet. IIRC, there is a different TIRZ along Allen Parkway and they were trying to figure out where and who was gonna pay. Again... this HAS to be done. I frequently ride up Taft and I've been harassed several times by cars. One of the few places, actually.
  20. It appears to be crane day Also, feels a bit disingenuous by this listing at a townhome across the street that they are pimping out their downtown views when they clearly knew that they would be blocked https://www.har.com/homedetail/124-drew-st-houston-tx-77006/3734341
  21. La Calle Tacos from Downtown is expanding to the former Rico's spot: https://www.houstoniamag.com/travel-and-outdoors/2021/02/bagby-park-renovations-2021
  22. Stopped by Mendocino for the first time this week and evidently the patio is cat-friendly
