WestMont: Mixed-Use Development Coming To Montrose
wilcal replied to groovehouse's topic in Going Up!
Edit: As mentioned below, this was designed for a previous owner. Is this what is planned? https://www.perkinseastman.com/projects/heart-of-montrose/ The city is clearly desperate to try to have someone else foot part of the bill. When it was pulled from CIP they said that they would add it back when HGAC had a call for projects again.- 697 replies

I honestly can't imagine that they are ADA accessible. Edit: I emailed Gabe at the Mayor's office for people with disabilities to get his thoughts. Edit2: Gabe said that his team would investigate for any ADA issues.

Montrose Collective: Office Building With Retail At 888 Westheimer Rd.
wilcal replied to trymahjong's topic in Montrose
I'm not disagreeing, I'm just saying it is really starting to look out of place with MC right behind it. Will probably feel that way even more so when the library building is built.- 981 replies

Montrose Collective: Office Building With Retail At 888 Westheimer Rd.
wilcal replied to trymahjong's topic in Montrose
The more I look at this building, the more I realize how much work this intersection needs. I love love Aladdin, but we basically need another one of these to take up that whole corner.- 981 replies

When I was looking at their website after they announced several weren't for sale until April 19. It is showing 12th for all now. 👍

TXDOT's budget is now only about 1/4 use taxes (gas/registration/etc). The rest comes from federal taxes and other TX-based taxes.

I can't find it, but I read something on Twitter that it was going to take a few weeks to iron some things out/get barricades/etc. I'm sure it'll basically just appear overnight at some point.

Update: not legal. They have a permit for a lane closure on Dennis for construction material delivery, but they aren't allowed to restrict public street parking just so that they have a place to park.

I was just conjecturing. Is Southwest planning on having all passengers use stairs, then? Also, does that mean UA has stopped services at A? I missed that there was a lease signed. Was there a starting date announced for the lease?
-
Hearing that Southwest will launch from the A3 gates. Pretty skeptical of this rumor considering there are no jetways at A3. I guess it's possible that UA is giving up A3 and that will be the site of first construction.

In other cities, they have made the scooter sharing companies use geo-fencing. Basically, the scooters shut off if they leave a certain approved area or enter an unapproved area.
-
All scooters, electric and non-electric are banned at Buffalo Bayou Park by city ordinance. All can be ticketed.

Just as a quick aside, I've been emailing a bunch of public officials/asking at public meetings and trying to figure out where the law actually stands. At the moment: ebikes are allowed everywhere. State law specifically prohibits municipalities from restricting them where normal bikes are permitted (except for some mountain bike trails). City is going to work on having ebikes specifically included in language via ordinance. Scooters.... are not very politically popular. They are permitted by a lack of regulation basically everywhere except for Buffalo Bayou Park and some private parks like Discovery Green (who have large/new no scooter signs).
-
Any thoughts on the legality of them posting no parking signs - construction worker parking only signs on the fence around all sides of the site?

Didn't have time to grab a pic, but they appeared to be actually digging in the SE corner this afternoon.
