  1. To keep it from sinking when they add the weight of the project and to prevent the ground from shifting and damaging the foundation. Those are my uneducated guesses from someone who doesn't know anything about civil work. The guys said there was a lot of water they needed to remove. I worked for a company that built huge above ground oil and chemical storage tanks and we had to have civil companies build huge foundations to support the weight of the oil/chemicals and the weight of the tank itself. I only dealt with the steel portion of the tanks and not the civil. Any experts care to weigh in?
  2. I was watching the BMW Championship golf tournament on NBC a while ago and they had a promo about him returning. He definitely looked familiar but I'm more of an ABC13 news watcher.
  3. So apparently I'm a local legend according to Strava on what they are calling "Just Another Dirty Alley" in Rice University. It's actually called "Campanile Rd." according to Rice. I ride it after going by the Abercrombie Building.
  4. They haven't done anything to the 2 townhomes on W. Pierce yet.
  5. I had the opportunity to talk with one of the McCarty workers, he confirmed that they are pumping out the water below the project. He said they drilled down 100', they have about 10 wells on both the west side and east side. Asked him when they will actually start building and he said next year.😳
  6. They have already started work on the Taylor St. Taco Bell/KFC by the Target and it isn't the new concept store. Went by the Shepherd St. store a couple days ago and nothing has started there yet.
  7. So talked with the 2 guys working here and both said this will be a gas station/convenience store with tacos. I asked about the underground fuel tanks and they said they haven't been installed yet. Edit: With an awning over the fuel pumps.
