  1. How about those oddly designed stores, particularly, the one that looked like a bunch of bricks were missing from the side? I think they were called "BEST's" or something like that. EDIT: Ahh, I did not see it earlier in the list
  2. Town&Country, of course. Also, Montgomery Wards (I THINK this one is gone...)
  3. Umm..no. The area is STILL empty, and besides..the place gives me the creeps(and probably others, too). If you want to make money with an asian style center, go to the west side.
  4. Oh, right./ Braeswood. I remember now. Too bad Old SanFran is gone now. I ate there a few times. Interesting experience.
  5. I think "town center" in this case means Market Street. market Street is right beside the Pavilion, which is past the Cinema, and close to the new Marriott Hotel. I walked the waterway a few months back. Pretty cool, but, as of yet, not much development.
  6. I remember eating breakfast at some restaurant called "Champ's" as a child. I liked the little train that would go around near the ceiling, and it would pass through some shelves filled with stuff. I think they closed down a few years back(I think there were multiple locations). Oh, and yes, I also remember this place called JoJo's, which was pretty good(This was near the Fondren area, I think, where i used to live). I don't know if they are still open, though.
  7. I don't think he's ever been to Earth.
  8. *winces slightly* The rendering looks like an italianate version of the Calais. This is better, but, I still shudder at the resemblance.
  9. Ah, sweet! Perhaps they need to add a P.J. inspired addition to the Renzo Piano designed Menil to house this new collection!
  10. Well, if Metro can develop the TMC station, I don't see why the TMC can't develop the parking lot, as well.
  11. Great news for that area. Now, as for the parking lot there, for the TMC workers, it may be a smart move in the future to build a garage, to replace the lot, create more spaces, and perhaps leave some room for a new hospital, or whatever.
  12. Perhaps they could start leasing the downtown buildings out to medical professionals(since there is an extreme shortage of space for doctors, dentists, etc.). If this was done, then I'm sure a big chunk of that vacancy would be taken up.
  13. Limestone, perhaps. It is sedimentary, which can allow for the fossils of which you speak.
  14. Tree frogs, perhaps. They may be some sort of cricket species/any kin of the cricket type. Random Fact: Cockroaches are closely related to crickets
  15. Also, there is another tower, the Franklin tower, next to 3333 Allen Parkway. Both look interesting.
  16. Interesting, but, they gotta do something with those blank walls.
  17. Hey, there's NOTHING wrong with SuperTarget. It sure beats WalMart.
  18. Also, not in that picture that the proposed tollway in the median of 288 is already built. As for the pics, I'll see if I can get them scanned.
  19. The Chronicle had an article out a few months back mentioning that Wulfe and the other developers had similar plans for thier sites. I really hope that a similar development will go up acrosss the street! That would give us a few blocks of continuous urbanized development! <LTAWACS> That would go great in midtown or downtown!</LTAWACS>
  20. Don't forget the people responsible for the US59 enhancements(the montrose people got them to do that) as well as the Kirby Coalition, the Upper Kirby district, etc. They are pushing for some interesting enhancements to the stratch of US59, as well as Kirby itself. OH, and need I mention...
  21. Doesn't Wulfe, or someone else also own the land directly across from Boulevard Place(and plan to redevelop it)? It also seems to be another strip center of some sort.
  22. Block 261, X and Y were all KPF projects. I have renderings of them in a book I bought, titled "Kohn Pedersen Fox, Buildings and Projects, 1976-1986", by Rizzoli Publishing. X and Y were pretty tall (70,and 60 stories) while the 261 was a smaller building.
  23. Somehow, I don't miss that we never had most of these built. They may have made the skyline look a little less modern, due to the number of international style glass boxes(and generic concrete boxes) that would have been built. I do like the BOTSW, Block 256 designs, though, as well as some of the ones not pictured here (Block 261, Project X, and Y, etc). The campeau center looks like something out of Detroit, though (really old, almost genuine 20's in appearance) and may have thrown off the balance of the skyline, once again. I'm happy with what we have:
  24. The people who designed the AIM HQ were the same ones who did the new Symphony Tower, in ATL. Note the massive resemblance.
