  1. Please, NoMo of this nonsense. Midtown is Midtown.
  2. Tis pointless, eh? And yes, ATL station does look quite sterile, especially some of the lofts/THs. In fact, some of the auto-centered lofts in midtown look better than the ones in ATL station. In fact, ATL station is not what I would consider an "insta-Street"- its more of an "Insta town". I mean, you have your ugly townhomes (clad in shingles, in fact) your generic, bland looking apartments, your little office buildings, and a town square.
  3. Dude, with you, it seems that if Dallas has it/is getting it, then Houston must have one, too.
  4. Why don't YOU do it? YOU seem to be the one most interested in this! I remember when you were screaming "The SHAMROCK WILL be built!!!!". Now, tell me, does the village still run to you when you cry wolf like that?
  5. So..I guess we had to suffer through those cheesy commercials...for nothing! "I CAN'T hear orion calling me...."
  6. Downtown? Are ya kidding me? I went to Market Street once, and for some reason, for me, at least, it has a similar ambiance to Rice Village, except, newer, more "planned", etc. If anything, this should go into the Heights, Midtown, or one of the neighborhoods like that. It just isn't "Downtown-ey" enough. Nice place, though, albeit a tad faux-ish. Yes, please excuse my usage of hyphen-isms.
  7. The glass/clear panels are already there on the dome. They just need to take the black paint off As wikipedia says "The dome's ceiling was made of clear plastic panes. Players quickly complained that glare coming off of the panes made it impossible for them to track fly balls, so all of the panes were painted over, which solved the glare problem but caused the grass to die from lack of sunlight." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrodome But..yeah, interesting concept. It's too touristy, though, and the sub-par quality of Astroworld nearby needs to be addressed as well.
  8. Yep. Say hello to even higher hotel vacancy rates. Well, at least that will match up with our 6 million sq ft of empty office space.
  9. Not really. This one does not have a big W stamped on its forehead In basic form, with the weird 'crown" thingy, perhaps. Overall, no. Plus, this one uses much more steel. To tell you the truth, I'm not too impressed with the design of the W at all.
  10. So, is this project dead? it said that "occupancy will begin in the 4th quarter of 2005" * * * 2005 is more than halfway through. I don't think they can build a big complex like this in 3 months.
  11. Yeah, and the Toyota Center is more complete now, too. The older pics were of them excavating the site.
  12. Yeah, I remember that show. Sigh...TV just isn't what it used to be.
  13. Hmm...once that thing is done, we could have a sort of "triangulation" of signature towers in the TMC- the StLukes, the new Hermann, and this. I can't wait....
  14. The shamrock was also sort of plain, too. Still, the TMC does have a few buildings with nice architecture, like the St Lukes tower by Pelli, the new UT SONSCC, the upcoming Prarie View Nursing school, etc. Stuff that's more modern, unlike the "sugarland esque" stuff that most of the MDA buildings look like. The new Ambulatory building is kind of cool, though, with the plaza, and such.
  15. And to think that you had lost all faith in Houston development, eh? But, anyway, the site is really close to Highland Village, and The Galleria! great news, indeed! That's one small step for Houston...One giant leap for the future of houston development...
  16. But, hey, Citykid, Randall Davis isn't like the rest of those developers! Excuse the cheesy pun, but, hotdog! This will be great for the Uptown area!
  17. I remember eating at the one that used to be at the SW FW at the BW. Good stuff. Now, the place is an Indian vegetarian restaurant. Go figure.
  18. Yeah, after all, I think that part of Midtown is called "Courtlandt Square". After all, that's the full name of the Calais- "The Calais at Courtlandt Square". They really should have gone all the way with the Calais design, though. I've seen some of the earlier renderings, and they really crapped out on the final design.
