Yeah, 1984 or something. Maybe you're familiar with the joke somewhere else on the board?

Perhaps it was self immolation due to its exclusion from Phaidon's 21st century atlas, while it's neighbor down the street got a space? Yes yes, I still can't stop laughing at that argument/fact.

Windsor Memorial: Multifamily High-Rise At 3131 Memorial Cr.
UrbaNerd replied to TheNiche's topic in Katy and Points West
Nice lines on that building. Such a shame that it will be clad in the typical beige palette, but I hope they at lease chose materials similar to the Montebello and Villa d'este.- 296 replies

Part 3: Discovery Green, etc: It was starting to get dark, so many of the shots I took did not come out very well. I really should get a camera that is better suited for the dark, as well as Houston's often hazy/overcast lighting. Diocese building...thingy that no one ever talks about, let alone has photos of. The complex is quite nice with its pleasing palette of brick, steel, and frosted glass, complimented with a verdant fenced plaza. Ice rink thingy at DG GRB Merry Christmas, everyone! And a goodnight to all! -

Part 2: Pavilions and the like. I'll try to hold off most of my judgments until the place starts to lease out a tad more. For now, it's just an empty urban playground. One thing I do like about the Pavilions is how some of the elements can be used to frame certain urban views. Sie ist ein Modell und sie sieht gut aus -
A few photos I took with a friend on approx December 15-ish; I did not get a chance to post all of these til now. Part 1; 2727 Kirby and West Avenue construction sites: Houston Callin' I always loved the smell of dust from construction sites in the mawnin'! *coughs and hacks, takes a puff from asthma inhaler* Epic construction site made the silicosis worth it: Lovely view from the Wachovia parking lot!

How Would You Change: West Loop/Galleria/Uptown?
UrbaNerd replied to editor's topic in Crater Houston Alliance
Post Oak blvd could perhaps be converted into something similar to the Ronda de Dalt in Barcelona Spain; lots of vehicular movements in the center, and street style lanes on the sides, with the center being sunken. It is kinda like a mini freeway with some portions in a cut-and-cover setup, while still allowing for pedestrian and road traffic on the sides. Buildings could still go right up to the "feeders", since it is not quite a true freeway. If this is too extreme, perhaps the intersections could be updated to resemble some of the ones in the TMC (Fannin@Holcome, I think), which is quite similar to the Ronda de Dalt setup, but without the continuous grade seperation for the central lanes. This way, all of the heavier traffic can still pass the intersection uninterrupted, and perhaps make the whole thing a tad more pedestrian friendly. -

Maybe they have to enclose all of the HVAC/mechanical equipment in there before they can finish adding the roof material?- 989 replies

I see you've resorted to a Goldilocks perspective to architecture these days.

Say, looks like Target will be moving to the new development; there's a logo on the building kinda far back.

Vintage Park Shopping Village Developments
UrbaNerd replied to mrfootball's topic in The Great Northwest
Au Contraire, Sugar Land Town Square has been quite slow to lease up, but many factors there are to blame (bad property management/excessively high leases, the economy, etc). To go along with the economical considerations, many of the shops there bit the dust when they closed nationwide (Bombay, Storehouse, Sharper Image, etc). Compared to The Woodlands/Market Street, SLTS's leasing activity has been quite sluggish, since the site itself is seemingly more isolated than Market Street. The completion of the Minute Maid building, the construction of another office building should add to the demand within this odd enclave. Efforts have been made to connect the town square to other points of interests however, with a new crosswalk, promenade, and new shops between the mall and itself.- 536 replies
