Ach, turn off those light stripes! Turn some lights on inside the building, and turn the beacon on at 6 instead of 7! (and don't turn it off til sunrise!)- 359 replies

A project like this would work downtown, if it was revised a bit. 1: get rid of the parking lot 2: make it multistory 3: tie it in with the street better. 4: better architecture 5: perhaps try mixing in some residential 6:.......Im sure there is something else!

Good News (if this has not been posted yet) The Edge will NOT be a lease building, and will have units for sale. http://har.com/search/engine/indexdetail.c...=0&backButton=Y This unit is going for like 355,000, though...

OOH, if they tear down that old building, I will be SOO pissed... I love that old relic. Its a nice old building set amongst gleaming new structures. If anything, they really should push forward with their proposal to buy the land once the Military reserve bases move from OST to Ellington (lots of land!) The TMC is truly an awesome place.- 28 replies

I'd take Perry Townhomes over these. Sure, the Perry townhomes are generic, "mini shards of Sugar Land in the city" BUT, I'll take the brick over whatever the heck those things are made of.

Meyerland/Willowbend/Westbury Real Estate
UrbaNerd replied to slck2's topic in Other Houston Neighborhoods
^^ Especially in that area, which is close to the "ghetto" areas. It is too far from most of Sugarland to be THE place to buy electronics and stuff (standard issues, at least) while a "safer" environment is readily available and closer, in the area where Best Buy and Circuit City are. Fry's IS good if you want to get a good deal on some stuff, and some special items ( ex: computer parts, esp if you want to build it yourself) but, when I went to the one at 45and west, something just felt...weird...about it. I hope the Stafford location will be better.- 142 replies

I think the 80 million dollar tag includes the cost of purchasing the land.

Lake Pointe Plaza: Mixed-Use Development In Sugar Land
UrbaNerd replied to The New Juniper's topic in Points Southwest
Also, if you drive around the parking lots, note that they place huge boulders at the curbs. This prevents preople from driving up the curb, as they see the stone and try to avoid it at all costs. This may also be a sadistic way of injuring the cars of unlucky drivers that happen to run over the curbs, though! -

Lake Pointe Plaza: Mixed-Use Development In Sugar Land

Maybe brick, but not BROWN brick, like everything else! As long as they don't go pink, or anything like that nasty brick used on the Shopping Center where the Wel farm Supermarket is. Oh, and they could also resort to the use of some stone, of some sort. Sure, brown is nice, but I may want to see something a bit out of the norm for SL! Just make sure it is nice! And BTW, I see you're running along well with the SugarLand mentality! Still, nice town, and I can't wait to see more development! -

Well, the shopping center in the rendering looks like it is about 2 stories... I hope they make it nice, and NOT as brown bricked as everything else! Perhaps they could do something similar to Market Street in The Woodlands, which DOES, BTW, have ALOT of parking lots. NOTE the similarities: However, I hope these plans are final, and I'd prefer that they'd push for some garages, and some more retail! WISH LIST FOR RETAIL: Whole Foods (Rice Village is too far!) Eddie Bauer (hopefully, they reopen in Town square, or even here!) Chipotle (town square, or here) ....
