  1. I am pretty sure you can scratch off the list, that Stuckey's in Giddings.
  2. Anyone know why they closed down Pilgrim Elementary on Richmond Dr. , in the Galleria area ? Looks like it is getting ready for demo.
  3. Perhaps those who are prone to redlight running and wishing to "stick it to the man" have migrated to these different intersections to avoid detection and have caused an increase of traffic at these non-monitored sites ?
  4. TJones Friday, September 16th, 2005 @ 11:51am Forget the buildings, LOOK AT ALL THOSE WONDERFUL CARS ! ! ! OMG ! Those are nice pictures though. Sakowitz II ,by the way, wasn't much of an architectual marvel, looked like a strip center in itself, or like a converted office building of the 70's.The store wasn't a stand alone, it was in a so called "Mall", with a Kay-Bee toy store and a chain bookstore, can't remember which brand, I want to say a Walden's books. Plain as plain can be, very ugly building. I remember eating at the Sambo's (now Denny's) across the street, then my Dad and I would venture over there to browse around. Circa 1979, 1980. The whole mall closed about a year or two after it opened. This is my very first post. From the Sakowitz thread.
  5. Well, after he got done falling out of the canoe, swimming to shore, only to be forced to squeal like a pig. He found a banjo at a nearby shack/cabin and is currently a pickin' and a grinnin' with some of the local folk. He is extending his "vacation."

    Israel

Well Lockmat, because there are a fanatical few thousand of them, and the Israelis only got about 200 to 300 of them so far. They still have a ways to go. Hamas wouldn't have to worry about "hanging in there" at all, if they would quit launching mortars and rockets into Israeli provinces. If Hamas wishes to play with fire though.........
  7. I am giving them credit, you have to be on the ball to get some of Seth's humor.
  8. I think Family Guy would be more appropriate for the HAIF populace, don't you, or do we have to bicker about it now ?
  9. Coolbuddy, I think we are witnessing the next Mrs. Memebag right there ^^^ !?! Crunch, there was that time with you and Red's ,Dr.Octopus friend, at Happy Days but Red's buddy wasn't really a HAIF member, so, I guess it don't count.
  10. Tree is down and out for pick-up already. Lights and Giant Santa and Frosty are still up out front. Most likely take them down tomorrow or next weekend. Hope everyone had a great holiday and Happy New Year.
  11. I am speaking of the whole "capsule" concept. There is more than just this building in Japan, there are capsule hotels also.
  12. I was a little surprised by this article, perhaps this fad has faded in Japan ? http://tags.gizmodo.com/5117473/nakagin-ca...t-make-it-there
  13. I was never offended by ANYTHING that anyone said in the politico threads. EVERYONE is entitled to his or her opinion and likes or dislikes of candidates. This is AMERICA, I think people need to govern themselves in such a thread, don't look at it, just like you might not look at porn on the interweb because you feel it "exploits" women. I liken the threads to the Flava FLav show. I can't stand it, so I try not to watch, but if I got caught up in it, and start yellin' at how stupid the people on the show are, that is my bad, and I can ALWAYS turn the channel.
  14. Apparently Ed and I do have alot in common. I grew up the EXACT same way. Now, our kiddos follow this tradition, and the wife and I spend nothing, nada, zilch on each other. It is all for the kiddies, and the grandparents are advised of the same, don't spend a dime on us, only the kids.
  15. T&C withoutadoubt, had THE best toy store in Houston. They carried old and new, which no other place did. It was one of the very last stores to vacate, along with Sam Goody and others. Don't think it EVER had a canvas roof though.
  16. Subdude, this whole thing is very political now. If the bailout works, is Bush gonna be called "hero" for saving the Big 3 ? No, it will be pointed out that the Dems. were right all along and that they would have eventually gotten the bill passed. If it doesn't work, it will be just one MORE epic Bush failure, and it will be all forgotten that any Dem. in Congress wanted to give the Big 3 any money. It is ALL about Big Govt. now Subdude, the Pandora's Box has been opened.
  17. From what I hear(from Haliburton), Oil will be this way until just after Obama getting in and will most likely return to the $100 range by Summer. I have heard that the reason oil is so low is to stimulate retail. People will get out and drive if gas is cheap. It has kinda been a catch-22 though, because at the same time more and more "collapses" seem to be happening to worsen the economic crisis. Alot of projects have been put on hold right now. I am sure Mark Barnes is having a miserable Xmas right about now. Haliburton is pulling out of alot of projects midstream, and will resume in late January.
  18. One: Ford didn't want a bailout, they wanted lines of credit in order to be able to pay suppliers if the other 2 went under. They apparently have enough cash on their own now for at least a year. B: Canada pumped money into the GM and Chrysler subsidiaries up there to keep form having to pay out more welfare for the time being and risk losing those plants forever. That move right there should be a wake up call to the big 3 to bring their parts manufacturing back to U.S. soil. Meme, one man does not a Republican party make. Your cohorts in Congress got what they wanted and got someone else to do their dirtywork for them. When this money dries up from the UAW draining it again and we are back to square one, I am sure you will be the first to stand up for Bush and say, "Well, at least he tried, good job Mr. President." Or are you already getting that warm, fuzzy feeling about him ? I like Bush, but I can definately disagree with this call, again, it's a band-aid on a gunshot wound.
  19. I'm not kidding, but check your local H.E.B. for this item. Will most likely be sitting out front with the patio furniture and black smoker/grills.
  20. I am guessing that Kimmy here is a size -3, that would be a clue as to why she likes muggy, sweaty concrete in December. Austin had a blanket of pea soup fog for 2days. It's gonna be 30's supposedly tonight, and a high in the 40's tomorrow. You guys are gonna get hit also. Kim, get that extra sweater out.
  21. That's not a good strategy for ME. That's how I navigate this joint. SO, Ed, just for giggles, were the emails of the offended, offended Republicans or offended Dems. ? You can PM it to me.
  22. WHOA, WHOA WHOA ! Rick Warren didn't go askin' Obama if he could do the prayer. Obama asked HIM ! What would you rather, Jeremiah Wright, after all, he was Obama's preacher for 20 years ? Which is a bigger mistake though, snubbing your preacher, or snubbing 10s of thousands that helped elect you into office ?
  23. I guess Socialism will ring, is that to the delight of the Dems. ? The Messiah will already have a foothold coming into office ? I feel bad. You can't put a band-aid on a gunshot wound.
  24. Red, you can rest your weary head. Bush has come to alleviate your heartache. I supplied the link to Bush, the great giver. Don't you Dems. feel bad for all your trash talk now. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/20/business...rss&src=igw
