  1. Went to see a talk on Mathematics & Language in the brain at Baylor College. And took a few snaps. From about a week ago.
  2. As I was driving down 610 it occurred to me that the overhaul which would suit Uptown most (other than a damned train) is turning the malls into street grids. ...also, I want to raise the flag...
  3. Drove by not too long ago and was struck by how deep it is. It's quite a sight.
  4. Well, certainly, it's changing right now. Just comparatively very slowly. Sorry for all the adverbs.
  5. I might be putting a lot of weight on the bridge to park and "future rail."
  6. That's part of it, I don't remember when the rail opened and this tower was proposed, or the rail was proposed or anyone knew where it was going to be proposed. (Which begs political and legal questions, I suddenly realize.) And I'm not saying I don't like the idea. On the whole, I do. But a part of me is playing imaginary sims. The "concept" (as you put it well) by the soccer stadium or even along the rail on the UH side of 45. Tangent: The Gensler by Design crew has a supercool concept very near the soccer stadium title Loop 720.
  7. I have a few questions and a few propositions on this one. But the simplest question would be why wasn't it planned right beside a rail stop.
  8. A confident dismantling of King Felix and an great increase in urban feel from the cheap seats. Good stuff, good stuff.
  9. I posted this in the Nicholson going up thread, but it more properly goes here. Chase keeping some of the parcel to build on. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Chase-bank-puts-Heights-land-up-for-sale-11019760.php
  10. It strikes me that this thread may have to proliferate. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Chase-bank-puts-Heights-land-up-for-sale-11019760.php
  11. It's sort of funny how this pictures exists but if you turn 90 degrees on that balcony you'll see five empty lots.
  12. It's my favorite place to eat so I thought I should post this here (out of loyalty.) http://www.houstonpress.com/restaurants/new-houston-restaurant-pop-pan-opens-in-oak-forest-fall-2017-9273629
  13. There is a lot of work going on around the property. Men are digging up the ground between the road and the Nicholson facing property line, and there are people working on 19th street. The gates to the water work plant open. A lot of energy expended but little else to report. The Chase Bank building has for sale signs up.
  14. As a person living in the Tanglewood area I like to think of a line up Washington either connecting and Shepherd and then going down 11th, or connecting at Hemptstead. But the light rail of my imagination goes all over the place.
  15. I'm a little surprised no one posted this. Was down at my parents, got a look at an actual physical paper. And this was on it. About a grant for infrastructure. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/article/Grant-seen-as-a-boost-for-Houston-Spaceport-10952195.php
  16. Every time I see a rendering like this for an area like that I think "I'll take the office building and the residential building for midtown please."
  17. I like neartown, but how about this: Allen Parkway. I feel like Allen Parkway winds so much it covers enough ground to call the area that. Also, I went out to Buffalo Bayou Park today. And I took some pictures (panos) to give the site some more visual context. These are from the Police Memorial.
  18. I'm a little vexed by this. I like it, it looks very nice. Like it should be in east midtown. But I live near this and I run through the streets down there sometimes, and every neighborhood thereabouts always has narrow streets and cars parked along the ditches, and it's tough to drive and also to run safely.
  19. If I'm recalling my Dante correctly, the third circle of hell is rail-naysayers constantly being pursued by trams.
