Texaco Building (now The Star) At 1111 Rusk Street
EllenOlenska replied to editor's topic in Downtown
It's a stunning building in the very heart of the city. That garage, though, is...flimsy looking. -
This is from a week back. I posted it on the Arabella page but I can't seem to see the image on any device. It's a pano and this tall tower is in the background.

The surfhouse is cool, but I'm really excited that Panini & Provisions is staying. It's my favorite restaurant in all of the "Heights" (including the actual Heights.) By the way, thank you CrockpotandGravel for all the updates around the greater Heights.

The Heights Restaurant And Bar Scene - More Coming

I heard a lot of good things and was always saying I should go there when I have cash on hand, but I never did. Now I feel like I helped kill FC. -
The Tower of London in rouged brick built on a parking lot is something I'd beg for in Houston. Edit: Yeah, meant brick.

The school announced Monday that it will break ground in September on a new music and opera building designed by Allan Greenberg Architect LLC. http://www.chron.com/entertainment/arts-theater/article/Rice-to-break-ground-on-new-performing-arts-hall-10806079.php

I'm just coming over from the Cheek Neal Coffee Building. I'm not good at reading the realignment proposal maps, and am curious: would the coffee building (on the northeastern side of the lot) be torn down during the realignment?

Wasn't there some looming shadowy tower north of the DNA portion in some of the renderings? And, if so, is that this? Edit: Oh, yes the glasses case shaped building in the rendering on this very page!- 1,229 replies

The HAIF arguments over whether it should be renovated with a full complement of glass or kept in its original 2017 aesthetic in fifty years will be wild.

I'm not going to say it's better or worse. My opinion is that the first drafts were a bit inelegant. This in a sense owns its inelegance, but's easier not to notice. All in all, from a certain distance it'll look nice and help even out views of downtown. From the top floors it'll have some great views.

Oh, I keep conflating the futuristic "Baylor St. Luke's Campus Expansion" in going up and this structure. What are they and how are they different? -
Should have just moved the fence closer. That dead center shot is a killer.
